That jumpscare reaction was epic 🤣🤣❤ One PERFECT moment for me, that really shows the thought behind this show & how everything ties together, is something that took me til second watch to notice..... Do you remember Luke's 90 days monologue from his episode "Twin Thing" regarding waiting for his Mom at Aunt Janet's? ... "I just expected her to come back. And every night I'd stare out my window, watching the headlights just full of hope my Mom would step out .." He has a vision of his Mom with gold headlight eyes asking him to come home, a manipulative twist on his hopeful dream. ..."Those tail lights though, they were the worst. Red eyes in the dark just taking hope with them." Think about what the house looked like when he arrived - red eyes in the dark. For Luke, the house shows it's true self, hopelessness, red lights on the house, the Mom is in a red dress. But for Nelly, the house pretends, it's a lure, gold lights, the Mom is in white.

The "I never built you a treehouse" blew my mind

Jessi

The banging on Shirley's house's walls mimics the banging that happened in her room when she was a child that her Dad brushed off as the pipes; really nice way that the show blends the past and present together where the timelines bleed together that is shown in various ways again and again throughout the show. And also welcome Poppy, whom, just like Mrs. Dudley said, is completely insane.

Joseph Sanchez

That jump scare did not disappoint.

Fun fact: theo’s reaction to the jumpscare was real because the director told nell to appear earlier than intended.

LUCY C.

I’m guessing you wrote this before watching the post discussion

Ha *the* jump scare, the one everyone longs for. What I enjoy about it is that there is a reason behind it. Theo and Shirl continue to argue and it's getting worse, and Nell interrupts them and that triggers Theo to explain and Shirl to listen.

Best jump scare ever. This show is excellent. It's interesting how each child remembers the mom a bit differently. She's more unstable in Steve and Nell's memories. Steve makes me wonder if the house didn't come as hard for him as it did his siblings and mother or if he was just better at rationalizing it and telling himself his mom was crazy and the people he saw where workers. I wonder if the mom could have had some underlying mental illness that made her more vulnerable to the house's manipulations.

I was waiting for this to happen from the beginning the best jump scare ever.

Jump scares don't get yells out of me. Like I cringe and I tense and I might grunt but this jump scare FUCKING SENT ME when I first watched it.

Saiara

I keep rewatching their reaction to the jump scare and focusing on Marketa and Chris each time. It's hilarious.

aka_slendy

someone spoiled this jumpscare for me - they only said one thing and it was that there was a jumpscare in a place you aren't expecting, it was enough for me to be ready even at that moment, i did tense though lmao y'alls reactions sent me tho again - the actress playing theo delivered that speech credit where it's due though which is to all of the actors + actresses, they all do so well in this show.

Fred Carmichael

Ive been waiting for this for so long

GenAntilles

I think negligent more likely... he doesn't blame his dad for doing something but for not doing something.

Kataleesi

Fuck man I completely forgot about the jump scare. Had my headphones in, their screams got me tossing my phone across the room. 😂😂

isculpt

Was waiting for that one!

Edo

lol fast forwarded to the jump scare LOL
