ManicMeeks

This whole episode broke me....I WAS SOBBING FOR DAYS.

HybridThizzle

i was gonna wait for the uncut but i cain't

Bernhard Escher

Too bad that the most emotional scene got cut down to like.. 5 seconds. Waiting for the uncut in 2 weeks then. :D

And sleep paralysis is such a weird thing to experience. I still experience that, but I know what triggers it. So I try to not let the dominoes line up to lead to sleep paralysis.

Jesus Nells scream at the end gives me chills everytime. That last scene is so insanely creepy and mind blowing

cosmotron

As someone who experiences Sleep Paralysis, and has since I was a kid, this show gets it pretty right. You have to focus on moving a body part, and it's really difficult I usually also get up and walk around for a second afterward, because if I'm not careful and immediately fall back asleep, I can fall right back into the paralysis too. As a kid I had no idea what was happening, and couldn't articulate it properly to my parents, so it was really scary, and gave me bad nightmares. Thankfully I don't get it as often as I used to, and I know what to do to wake myself up, but it's definitely never fun to experience.

Bernhard Escher

Can we maybe get a better mic for Pat? Donation goal, anyone? My ears are bleeding.

sleep paralysis is really scary

kcat

She was haunted by her own death... the house plays tricks on their minds it even messes up time, and I wouldn't say she was possessed when she went to the house. The lights coming on was what the parents would tell them to notice when it's time to come back home.

i gotta say i disagree with marquetta (not sure how to spell her name.) i try to understand on other videos cause our views on a bunch of stuff are different. here, i have to say something. when i watched this show when it came out, i'm not thinking about mental problems or illness, i immediately think oh there are ghosts. Do they have issues they could better work out as a family? Sure. excluding the supernatural stuff, seems like normal behavior to me though. it's the ghosts fault, no one else Nell is gone. Nell did not want to die, i didn't say anything in the first episode cause i thought that was clear. By now, you have all the info you need. also theres some weird time travel things introduced in this episode. anyways, i give the ghosts 99% blame, mental problems 1% blame.

Yes Chris exactly! It was a horrible self fulfilling prophecy where Nell saw her own death starting from a child. One of the best omg moments of this show, it blew my mind and hurt my heart. The mental illness theory: one thing that's so awesome about this show is how it plays with being haunted vs being mentally ill. They've talked at length about the Mom being mentally ill, you see Luke struggles with addiction, Steve is convinced that's the culprit, and Nell has gone through a trauma and is off her meds. Marketa, I get what you're saying but I don't think it's fair to blame the siblings, particularly Theo. Steve was going to call her back the next day. They just missed this one night, do you always call your sibling immediately back? Unfortunately I don't. For Theo, Nell was forcing her to experience someone's death, that's horrible, she asked Theo and she said no, then Nell forced it. No wonder Theo was pissed. And Theo experiences feelings, she doesn't have visions so it may not have even helped.

Nelly is my favorite character ❤😭😭😭 This episode was so trippy and sad

It’s one of those things that’s easy to say that you’ll be there 24/7 for friends and family when you’ve never experienced the repercussions of it. Personally from both sides, I can say that it is absolutely stressful being the emotional lifeline of someone else especially if it is prolonged for years to decades. It is nigh impossible to maintain your own mental health when you have to care for someone else’s constantly. That’s why it is imperative to seek professional help when these things happen. While yes in the context of this show that didn’t work, it is completely reasonable to leave it to a trained professional, which is what Nell had.

Kim Carragher

The mad thing about Nell being the ghost is that it means Arthur really did just die of an aneurysm. Which is so sad.

Elizabeth, thank you for what you said! I wouldn't say I necessarily "sided" with Steve, but I tried to understand it from his perspective as well as trying to see it from the other siblings perspectives. They all had their baggage, grief, and trauma to deal with. And I think this show does a really good job in showing how each of them dealt with that. They even showed Luke explaining how he had stolen from his brother to fuel his habit, it showed Shirley trying to help pay for Luke's rehab. There were moments where they were close with Nell. You don't necessarily get the "in between" that, but having someone close to you who has a substance abuse problem or a family member that may have an undiagnosed mental illness(which is a different situation than substance abuse) who is constantly consumed by that can be extremely draining and sometimes you can give so much and the question is how much of yourself should you give? I think that's the point that some of the siblings were with Luke and Nell.....not saying it's entirely right, but it's a reasonable reaction to have if it's been going on for years.

Charlotte

Nell's story is so tragic. In the moment of her death, she revisits the worst moments of her life, creating this awful cycle. It gives new meaning to being one's own worst enemy.

Matis

I shouldn't been watching this in the middle of the night damn it

Pate

I don't think it's the mic at the root of the disturbance. Can we um get a moderator who has muting powers? like in zoom?justwonderingmightbenicemarketaandraniagotspokenoverahellalot

Thanks girl, yes I agree with you, good take on it! I guess "sided" is the wrong word, I guess I feel alot of empathy for him, especially with them guilting him over the book, which I don't feel is deserved. I love all the adult children, there's no one I didn't like in the beginning of the series. (Well, that's not entirely true, Shirley's judginess bugged me alot.)

next episode is like one of the greatest ever for tv, how its shot and everything

assCrackBandit

marketa i felt so hard for you when u said shut the fuck up to chris loool 😂😂😂

kdaW

Maybe don't allude to and potentially spoil stuff for people.

Jarrod Wild

If Nahid was in this with everyone, he'd be so aroused by this next episode. Dude appreciates cinematography.

Jarrod Wild

Depression is a cycle, and for a long time wasn't taken seriously or shrugged off by others as something you just need to "get over". In that regard I identify with Nell's story more than the other kids.

I think Pat screamed out his last brain cell into that pillow

This was one of my favorite episodes, I felt so bad for Nell. She had a hard life 😭

TheOneAndOni

You kept saying she killed herself when she didn't. Luke said she didn't kill herself and now you seen it played out, her mother killed her.

aka_slendy

another fantastic episode - you gotta commend the actress who plays Nell too cause i've been there, just staring at a wall for hours. this show is just so underrated and not many people can get through it cause of the scares but i'm proud of y'all for sticking with it - the writing is just so goddamn good.
