Woodes Rogers had just survived that epic carriage crash before fighting Vane. Maybe he would've won.

Spain never wanted Vane. That was all Rogers because Eleanor told him Vane had to go for his plan to succeed. And we did see that in Vane's conversation with Flint at the beginning, his desire to never live a life of domesticity. Unlike Vane, Flint is not against a "civilized society", he just wants one free of British oppression to live and love who he pleases. Alot of that carriage fight was filmed in one shot. There's some BTS video on filming it I saw once. Maybe it was on the DVD set? Zach McGowan did all his own stunts for it cause he's just badass that way. 😂 Vane would've totally had Rogers if the militia hadn't shown up. I did love the carriage scene with Jack and Rogers but Rogers being all "Life is hard for rich, straight white men in the 18 Century" should get him a throat punch.
