oooo yeah it's getting really good now.  The writing is very good, some very memorable one liners already.

A good captain should think of their well being. Harry Potter literally led the tired men into battle when Flint warned him against it

BrokeHighMan

I dont even care about their hate for Flint at the moment, I know it will change, but just the fact that it is causing conversations like these makes it all worth it! This show is a boulder rolling down a hill, and its picking up speed!

Marketa's face when Flint's example of exactly why he should be captain pays off is absolutely fucking priceless. She always has a tendency to let her dislike for a character over-rule everything that she knows and has been told about them. And yes of course Flint cared about Gates. It's been clear since Day 1 that he cares about all of his crew members. But they have also gone to great lengths to explain from dialogues in both the present and the flashbacks about the power of a man driven to reach his goal, and the reasoning behind why they are so driven. You can't just discount that because you're unhappy with the end result.

1) Vane cannot simply be Eleanor's bodyguard, half of Nassau hates her for what she did to him/the fact that she is ruling over them and is a woman. He is being kind by telling her to stop this Lowe thing but she is bullishly continuing on because she doesn't understand the gravity of her situation. He took the fort to take the fort, not to be part of her consortium. The show will get into Eleanor's motivations more in the next few episodes so I'll leave it at that. 2) The logistics of buying/stealing a whole new ship, convincing new men to follow you after you have been deposed following ten years as the Top Dog and Flint has 2 - 3 weeks max before the gold disappears from that beach. Setting aside whether he's good or not or what is good and what is bad (even though the show is casting doubt on Flint's morality, it shows us two clear Bads in this episode and that is the captain torturing Billy and Ned Lowe) it's just not feasible 3) I really enjoyed the discussion afterwards and am happy you guys are getting into the show so much now. Paak TV doesn't really lend to slowbuild TV shows so the fact people are still discovering Black Sails and getting through season 1 is a blessing

LMAO you do NOT yet know Flint guys.

The writing has always been great. The first season perfectly laid the groundwork for what's to come.

The Air Nation

Ya this season picks up. Episode 5 is crazy

why set expectations for certain episodes? just let them react and be surprised

Deviant Parker

You should look up the real story of Calico Jack.

Yea the whole Gates situation I believe he did care for Gates as a true friend because they worked on the same crew for a long time and that’s ditpictaded threw there convo the night before Gates was killed when they were drinking you could tell they were both struggling with how far they’ve grow apart

Oooh LOVE this one, and I always get chills during the other captain*s doubt sequence, it's so good; the voice-over, editing, sound editing, score setting in, the acting. Like, just the wind blowing in the hair when tension is palatable. Amazing! Just sad Suraj missed it. And so the countdown begins.

STEAMY_DA_GOD

Flint is the one true pirate king. 😍🍆💦

Can't wait for next week

haha brown Pats questions.. sometimes it seems like he's less asking you a question and more trying to direct you to the same conclusions he has. I think Flint did care about Gates in so far as he felt bad for killing him but I think when it comes to a choice between achieving his objective and the lives of his crew, achieving his objective will always win.

Vote for Chris, 2020. (P.S. Teeeaaam Flint! And I love the designation of Ship Weasel for John Silver lmao.)

having already watched this series, it's crazy to see the development that these character will get going forward.

Pirate Potter. 😂 Flint is such a great character. He was largely an enigma in season 1 but season 2 really brings the viewers into his mindset.
