love this season and it firmly established flint as one of my all time favourite characters. i so wish toby stephens had gotten more recognition for how good he was in that role.

I don't get the dislike for John Silver at all. He's smart, charismatic as fuck, humorously bad at combat apparently (for now), and unlike most of the characters, he has actually been pretty straightforward with his priorities so far in spite of his cunning schemes. Don't even get me started on the nuances to Flint's character that aren't getting love. Oh well, at least Pat is Team Flint! Really looking forward to the fam's reaction to this season, though.

Black Sails is the prequel to Treasure Island. The actor Jannes Eiselsen ,who was the first Dufresne, left the show after the 1st season and died from brain cancer not long after.

The gold is on a beach in Florida. The Urca de Lima was a real Spanish treasure galleon that shipwrecked off the coast of Florida. The show loves mixing in real historical elements.
