What an incredibly well done episode!  This is the quietest you will ever see us.   We were left literally speechless.

According to Julie Andem Is Isak hadn't got there that night, Even would have commited suicide. That's why Isak remembered the article about deep depression, and the ending of Even's favorite movie Romeo and Juliet, and the interview wehn he said that all epic romances ended in tragedy. Plus in his text he said to Isak: Somewhere in the universe we are together forever.

Sandra

In our standard bible Genesis 21:21 is also ”The birth of Isak”

Anonymous

in regards to feeling like he was about to kill himself, as even said himself the last ep, "the point is you think it's a romeo and juliet reference but really it's a pretty woman one"

Sandra

Also: The Meaning Of 21:21 21:21 or 2121 symbolizes a combination of the energies associated with the numbers 2 and 1. Once again, the presence of 1 here suggests that you are vibrating at a high frequency. You are highly capable of shaping your reality in accordance with your will. Hence Evens surprise at the time being 21:21, then deciding to leave with Isak to go swimming

Fun fact: The church singers name is Nils Bech and he dated Julie Andem (the director) in real life. He later dumped her because he is gay and dated a man with the last name “Næsheim”. Thats where Evens last name “Bech Næsheim” comes from.

god i will never forget when the last clip dropped. btw it won best tv moment of the year in norway!!

When skam was showing, Nrk would announce the length of the Friday episode a few hours before, and than often change the running time before the actual airing. So for this episode I think they first announced a length which left maybe 15-20 minutes for the final clip, and everyone was very happy, then right before they changed it leaving only 7 minutes to go for the final clip. Uproar, how could 7 minutes be enough to solve all that needed to be solved? Then the clip was released and we were all speechless at the beauty of it. Such effective storytelling.

Charlotte

Finally! Been waiting for this since s1! Thank you for your beautiful reaction to this beautiful episode. To be honest I worried a bit that you would talk over the last scene and miss this incredible klimax. Hope you get the hype around s3 now, because it really is a masterpiece. So well done, its art.

Maria Buka

Who would have thought that Magnus would have been the voice of reason at the end lol

Charlotte

And when you're done with s4, please react to the bloopers. There's one for every season and they're funny, touching and just more SKAM!

Charlotte

They are still together and he (Næsheim) is a director! Like Even....

Mo

This is an emotional episode, but so good! I really grew to love the boy squad in this season. Magnus is the best. Can't wait for episode 10 its a fitting finale for this season. Season 4 is my favorite though, so i'm hyped that its almost here! Thanks for the reactions guys.

And just to further that, Julie also said that the text from Even was supposed to be seen as a suicide note. Marketa, you were totally spot on about the references to Romeo and Juliet in that scene. Which is why I think it was less that Isak had a spiritual realization, and more of what Luis is saying- that he put the movie ending and Even's note and mental state together and thought the worst, as we all did.

Emily K

And what makes it all the more incredible is that (other than the song) only four words were spoken in the whole clip!! Truly deserves all the awards!!

Emily K

I love Marketa's reactions. That is all :)

The last reference in ep 8 is in the morning after scene where he says " I don't know what you like so I got one of everything".

Skam is such a brave and important show. To link a season about homosexuality to mental illness (and even religion too) is like stepping into a hornet nest. But they did it just right! There is never any link being made between any of the mental illnesses and the different sexual orientations - only enlightenment of the characters and us viewers. And the important point being made (as always in skam) is the power of love and communication. You gotta love show that serves us all this in 15 minutes!

Also, please. When you finish all the episodes give us what we crave- a reaction to all the trailers ( with a following discussion) and the bloopers/behind the sceenes. Pro tip: check out the artist Astrid S before the season 2 one, so you get the hype👌 also wouldn't mind you guys reacting to a YouTube video explaining russ👍

A+ guys. Your discussion was so positive. I'm sure your words made a lot of people feel better about their own struggles. This is an awesome community!

Mo

This comment is spot on! They handled these topics in a great way this season.

NicL

O Helga Natt <3 The collective calmness after it dropped, it was the most beautiful thing, as was the clip.

Marketa's lipstick is bomb

Jordon

Loved this reaction, really touching and wholesome. I'm so glad you guys are appreciating the show so much!

This is such a beautiful episode, I remember when it came out and everyone had such lovely and open discussions- seeing your reactions reminded me of how I felt when I watched it for the first time :) love your reactions

More fun facts from the production: Julie Andem would regularly email out the finished script for each episode to the rest of the team, and they would email back quickly with suggestions and comments. When she emailed out the script for this episode, she got nothing back. She waited like an hour or two before walking over to someone from the team to check that they had gotten her email, and that person just said "fuck you". Because the script itself was just such an incredible gut-punch, that they were all speechless and didn't know what to say.

Rissa Jacobs

Loved your reaction to that final scene. I think it speaks volumes when basically every reactor is rendered speechless by the end of that last clip, because it's that intense and beautiful. Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but I'll just bring it up again if not - a lot of people watching this in real time genuinely thought Even was going to die, because of all the Romeo+Juliet parallels (there are a LOT) and the fact that Even said "the main character has to die for it to be an epic love story" in episode 2, when Isak was watching his interview. There's also the huge trope of "bury your gays" (I'd suggest looking it up if you haven't heard of it), where a lot of queer characters in media are killed at the end for "the emotional resonance" (smh). But! Remember when Even said the episode 8, "The whole joke is that you think it's a Romeo and Juliet reference, but you don't get it until I enter the balcony"? Because it's actually a Pretty Woman reference. He even goes on to say "And then you say, what happens after I've saved you? You say, I save you back." AKA, it was actually a message to us, the audience too! The answer to Isak and Even's love story was there the whole time - Isak and Even don't die, they actually end up saving one another <3

Your silence the last minutes... Well, that spoke more than words, so to speak. 😊❤️

Chio

Love your reaction <3

Gezno

Magnus, favorite character

Jordon

Wow! I've seen this season about 10 times by now but it never clicked that what Even said in episode 8 was directed at the audience as well! I love that I'm still learning more about this show to this day, thanks for sharing!

Why I can't find you guys reaction to episodes 7 and 8?

Annika G L

Yes I can find 7 but not 8. Been away so need to Catch Up on 8+9. Have a lovely Friday !

Annika G L

The ohelga natt clip won the best tv- moment of 2017 in norway. And Tarjei and Henrik also won the audience price. It was a big one for Skamily 💗

Annika G L

Niels Bech is the singer. He is an old friend of Julie Andem and is now married and called Bech- Nesheim. Guess what Event last name is. 😉 🥰 https://youtu.be/VccYMDTSgYY

Annika G L

He is also singing the s3 trailer song. https://youtu.be/GiXONSITq_Y

Jessica Irene Conifer

oh that scared the shit out of me... that text while Isak was in the church, I thought it was a suicide note, the depression notes in the Bipolar Wiki article, the moment that he said "you have to lose something", where he said he was where they met (the bathroom, not the bench), he apologized, he said he was alone, and then the setting looked just like the suicide scene in Romeo and Juliet and I was like "GO!! GOGOGO!!!!"

Jessica Irene Conifer

One thing I love about SKAM is each season has a "false" focus and a real focus... the first is what the character thinks is the biggest deal in the world, but it is usually dealt with fairly easily mid-season then something bigger comes along. In this season Isak being gay and coming out feels like the biggest thing, but it's really not and the focus ends up being mental health and made families and finding support in friendship.

It would be nice if you guys also watch the video that Even made for Isak. They actually posted it on YT as if it was him.

Charlotte

Yes, but can we pls wait til we get there? It's not until last episode of s4. 😊

Elise

Please do not spoil what's going to happen! That's last week in season 4.
