It does, I just finished it. It's wonderful and I enjoyed it but it's overhyped. I'd highly recommend you and they continue but lower your expectations a bit from expecting "the greatest show ever made" lol. That said, it's really great, I just wish I'd gone in blind.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, I think the pace is great by this point. You need to invest in the characters if you're going to enjoy this show.

The amount of people trying to sell the show as the greatest sleeper hit there ever was are ironically killing the reactions by building unrealistic expectations.

I think for some reason people think when we get hyped about stuff its only for action. It's not. It's the story and the journey these characters go on. If they are just waiting for constant pirate battles that's not what Black Sails is mainly about. Sure theres a good amount of action and when it happens it's awesome but if they were able to get past S1 of Agents of SHIELD they will be fine and I expect later reactions to be just as hyped as us that love the show were

I dont really get it either. The pacing is sort of similar to Season 1 of Breaking Bad. All this character development so by the time you get to season 2 you are fully on board (pun intended)

What's amazing about this show is the storytelling, the character development over each season, and the way real life events and treasure island events are mixed together. Also, this show has some of the best dialogues if not the best (keep an eye for those).

Just finished season 3. Probably the best season yet. But the fans of Black Sails that rank it on such an unrealistically high pedestal have ruined quite a bit of my journey with Black Sails up to this point. Wish i went into this blind. Than again if it wasn't for them, i may have never given this show a chance, and written it off as just another pirate plot. I genuinely love the show. It just took me a while to get there.

Not to be pessimistic, but I think fans have hyped this up too much for some of the crew, where they have taken that hype and assumed certain things and now unrealistically expect so much so early on. That’s the only way I can explain their constant criticism of the pacing after every episode, because this pacing is honestly fantastic for a new show, ala early Breaking Bad, Agents of Shield, and GoT. The fact that they keep addressing it when it shouldn’t even be a thing (and the shows pace doesn’t speed up by much) has me thinking they’re simply not going to enjoy this show as much as Blind Wave or other reactors do (many of whom were hooked by episode 3). It’s an unfortunate thought, but we the fans may have ourselves to blame and this might not be the show for them. I hope they continue it and grow to enjoy it, though.

John has done nothing wrong, yet they seem to dislike him so much. he is honest about his self interest so at least every other character understands what to expect. he gave flint the knife so they could save randal. he didn't have to do that and it didn't gain him much at all. Everything he has done that could be seen as wrong he has done in self preservation. Trying to sell the map, he was on an island of killers with no money or friends. burning the map, they were gonna kill him. Talking to Billy about Morely and Randal, he was trying to gain favor so they wont kill him in the end.

i think youre right.. same thing happened with "better caul saul" except the reverse, people said it was slow at first, which is tottally right, but they just assumed the extreme, and now theyre loving it, even tho the pacing is the exact same has black sails. But i still think by the mid season 2 or season 2 finale theyre gonna be hooked by this show. one or the other

thats the thing tho, for me and many people black sails is one of the best shows on television on par with breaking bad and GoT 1-4. i watched this show has it came out since season 1 but i didnt realized how much i loved it untill the end of season 2. I just though it was pretty good untill then.
