This is the weirdest story line yet. Jared Fogel being in this one doesn't age well.

In terms of the storyline - along with those great end-credits - the whole 5th season was about Community perpetually being on the chopping block. The machine and it’s feelings was the show, able to convey feelings instead of mindless drudgery. Even at the end of the episode, one of the school board guys telling the cast your school will always be unmarketable and on the verge of cancellation… it’s like Harmon took NBC’s words and put them to paper. So great! Also, not putting down whoever created it (very nice work) but whatever you call that Human Being reproduction on the table, you need to cut it into pieces, perform an exorcism on said pieces and cremate them ASAP. Because, and maybe I’m wrong, I believe the Bible, Quran and Talmud all predict we die one day in a horrific blood orgy started by that demonic, albino voodoo doll.

Little something i noticed while rewatching the series post-season 5: In episode 3.21 - "The First Chang Dynasty", there is a bit a dialogue that makes me question weither this was planned for a while or not. But knowing this show and its attention to detail, I wouldn't be surprised if Harmon or one of the writers had that detail in mind for a while, and that it wasn't just a happy accident. Anyway, here's the bit in question: School Board guy: "Happy birthday, Ben. On behalf of the school board" (*handing him the gift*) Chang: "Shower organizer? ... Are you guys PSYCHIC ?!" :)

I think this is a decent season finale but as a series finale, it doesn't work because Harmon prioritized shading NBC over giving the characters satisfying send-offs. In fact, when NBC cancelled the show after this I remember one of the biggest sources of disappointment for a lot of people was that they felt this wasn't a satisfying ending for the show. The actual series finale is an absolute masterpiece though, prepare to bawl your eyes out
