Kelly Parks

Was that a weird boob on that pillow behind Hannah?

Griff

something is wrong with vid on my end, its all janked up... skipping and stuttering

Kelly Parks

Remember an episode or two ago when Walt was trying to figure out what to do, sitting by his pool? He was spinning his gun on its side and after one spin he seemed to think of something? The spinning gun stopped on the pot holding that plant.

5 in which time zone?

Nice job guys! You three are an absolute joy, BB being my favourite show aside, am a fan of a lot of Normies content, but no other Normies vid, maybe any reaction channel vids period, are quite as perfect combo as you three together for the reactions and discussions, and hannah's insights and analysis in particular are always so great to hear and I love her more per episode. Will be refreshing away until 5 of whatever myserious timezone it will be.

Kelly Parks

Hannah. You're thinking of Prometheus.

Kelly Parks

They're in Indianapolis. Eastern Time.

First I want to say this was written before I viewed the reaction so please forgive me if some of this has already been discussed. - Have you guys discussed music yet? I know you have all noticed how neat, fitting and innovative the score and song choices are. That would be the work of the AMAZING Dave Porter, a classical pianist who sampled songs and sounds of the American Southwest for months to orchestrate the feel, locale and motifs of the show. Almost every episode, you will hear synths and ambient from the show mixed into the score. Ask your resident DAW-genius Chris how that’s done, and if he’s up on his Breaking Bad, some of the cooler examples of it in the show. (Hint, without spoiling - can’t wait till you guys get to an episode called To’hajiilee) - On the issue of music, did you guys dig that crazy guitar piece during the lab demo? That was just two crazy-gifted-as-f##$ brothers on their acoustics. Check out the video of them performing the same piece live - https://youtu.be/9nTGSfbP-N8 - By now you see that Gus didn’t go back to his car because he sensed Walt poisoned Brock to manipulate Jesse. Another clue, in my opinion, that the writers gave in the beginning of this episode that Walt is the real danger when it comes to murderous indifference is when Walt walks into the hospital with a primed bomb, tucked neatly into a diaper bag! - The Walking Dead folks, then working on season two, were the FX team behind Gus’s loss of face. - A minor, but present issue, regarding the greatness of this show and inconsistencies. Actually, I’ll bring this up in Live Free or Die. - I asked it last week, but how do you guys like Walt now? Gus? As you can guess, you won’t see Gus again (unless via flashback) but given everything you’ve seen of the two, do you think one is worse than the other? There are many similarities between the characters. However, Gus seems to have more purpose to his methods and kills, when employed. Walt simply tries to save his own ass, and damn well keep screwing up Jesse’s life as a result. Another way to look at it is how these two fare as fathers. We’ve seen Walt with Walter Jr., and assuming Gus wasn’t lying, we can at least deal with the idea that Gus is or was a father to a child. But look at their younger criminal counterparts - Gus with Gale, and Walt with Jesse. Gus was deeply cut when Walt took out Gale, someone who himself vouched for Walt’s life when Gus was constructing the lab. Walt, through self-preservation, sought out Jesse, blackmailed him, took everything and everyone out of his life to replace with meth production, and after all that time, still sought ways to manipulate him into being his ally. I’m still convinced this was something the writers wanted to convey because of everything we learned over the course of season 4. Walt called Walter Jr. Jesse, thinking about his own son; Gus revels in having killed off all of Hector’s family and bloodline, with earlier episodes revealing how Eladio and the Salamanca’s took away his own closest relation; hell, something I just thought of while watching you guys react… did you notice after Salud, Gale and Jesse were both able to produce samples that were 96 percent pure? - Just a thought, but as a bunch of people wrote last week, this show was possibly set to end with season 4. How do you think you’d feel about Walt and all the characters had the show just ended right there? Maybe revisit after the end of the show; I’m sure you guys are pretty keen on the idea of Walt dying in a barrel in the Mexican desert. - I didn’t write before because I wasn’t even using Patreon, but remember early on when you guys were so angry at how bitchy Skyler seemed to be? As a fan that watched since the 2008 premiere, I also grasped at each piece of press surrounding each season’s release and thus, can tell you if you look you’ll find there are articles, interviews and even a Paley panel where Gilligan and MacLaren discuss how they intentionally made Skyler that way in the beginning to make sure viewers who found the whole idea of drug dealing off-putting, at least found ways to sympathize with Walt. All that to say, I think this season is the start of Anna Gunn’s time to shine as a leading actor on the show. She has had many great moments in previous seasons, including that cringy-but-awesome snap fest with Walt at the end of season 2, but she regularly displays her acting talents with flair from season four onward. What do you guys think? - Can’t rave enough about Hannah, her instincts and her eagle eye. Given she was the first one to pick up on the colors, I wonder if you guys ever settled on what purple means? Now, we can establish that clearly these repetitive patterns mean something, but without a definitive interview or quote explaining such - I have yet to find one with the creators, writers or set design - we are left to speculate. But, since we predominantly see Marie wearing purple, and for much of the beginning of the show, she seems very much wrapped in herself and her own exploits, I think purple means selfishness to the point of blindness; you don’t see others, or the consequences of what you’re doing. That said, I think that gives a satisfactory explanation of Gus’s last jacket, the purple tweed piece. He could have just let Tyrus kill Hector. But because he was so consumed by his own selfish revenge, he wanted to inflict that last pain. His death was further foreshadowed by the reverse angle on his final walk into the nursing home, by which the back of the forward-facing welcome sign pretty much resembles a tombstone. - I’ve gushed over Gus enough for you to tell he was my favorite character. His consummate professionalism, as a character, and as the actor who played Gus - Giancarlo - was something that inspired awe in all his fellow actors as well. Aaron Paul went on to win the supporting actor Emmy that year for Breaking Bad, but Giancarlo was nominated. Paul even remarked in his speech something towards his admiration of Giancarlo’s work. But, given that information, do you guys agree - Jesse as a character seemed more masterfully portrayed than Gus, in season 4? All those awards are subjective and contextual, and I’ve had a hard time struggling with the idea that maybe myself, as well as many others I think would agree Gus was a spectacular character, was spectacular in totality, whereas Jesse, also amazing, had a more explosive dramatic arc in season 4. But again, I struggle with that idea. Do you guys think Mike should have been nominated for season 4? That Emmy season was really contentious and confusing, with Homeland taking both leading actor awards, and best series. I thought Damian Lewis, in that first season, gave an engrossing performance, but that season still had the traditional Showtime ups and downs.

Rana & Hannah’s reactions 😭😭😭😭

SinancoTheBest

I agree with Hannah that everything went south after Jesse going after the killers of Brock; I don't think Gus would have spared Walt and left a loose end after he 'betrayed him' and 'act irrationally' in his eyes.

The discussion before the episode broke my heart haha

Hannah is right though, Jesse fucked this partnership up because he wanted to kill those thugs, Walt just wanted to protect Jesse, he even risked his and his family's life for Jesse at that moment, which is pretty rare for Walt, but it shows that they have some wierd fucked up father-son relationship and he cares about Jesse to an extent.

Sachal Ali

They're both bad people. Walt is more reckless and destructive but Gus would have done the exact same thing without hesitation if he saw it as a useful move to make. Also loved Rana's unimpressed scowl when Nahid complains about his hearing.

Hey, I think you guys forgot to tag this one as "Breaking Bad"... I saw 5x01 immediately following 4x12 in the BrBa feed and got confused.

Jasmin Holmes

he was gonna kill them either way and Gus took a liking to him it was Walt's ego that got them into the predicament.

Ryan

Hannah wears green Walt wears green, is Hannah Breaking Bad now too? The meaning behind Rana’s pink top eludes me but we all know that Nahid wearing white means Stone Face/show no emotions

The Ultimate Ed

I'd say Gus and Walt are cut from the same cloth. However... if I were to say who is more dangerous? Walt, hands down. Simply BECAUSE he still has humanity. Because he's so human, he loses his shit.

"Oh my god - nooooo"... Wait what? You actually liked this evil killer?
