Community 4x9 Intro to Felt Surrogacy Reaction

Comments

This might be my least liked Community episode. It's not terrible, but it's not really good either. I'm more hyped for the reaction of a certain person added to the cast in Season 5

Big Mike

Yooooo Chris, check out Michael Haggins - Daybreak .... #soundfamiliar

This ep highlights the key difference of Season 4 imo, which is that Community rarely *ever* parodied one specific thing for a whole episode. The Law & Order episode is the only time I can think of, though even that pulled from procedural tropes as a whole. Nothing *wrong* with this, but just an obvious change of style

ah i really don't like this episode

SpeedyCat19

Heheheheh they liked what people call the worst episode of Community ever. I feel so vindicated about Season 4

Champion Bescos

I thought this episode was great, almost on par with the claymation special, personally. Glad they enjoyed it.

ICQ was a competing instant messaging application back in the day. It was numeric based instead of screen name based. I was 1358450. They were eventually bought out by AOL and integrated with AIM. They even had a weird little server bridge where you could chat cross protocol. It was developed by an Israeli company called Mirabilis. This has been a brief lesson in nascent stages of online instant messaging. (tm)

Wait really? I didn't realize people didn't like this episode. It's one of the few I actually like in Season 4.

Barney Rudkins-Stow

I'm sure you know this by now, but the hot air balloon guide is Sara Bareilles, a pop singer who wrote "Love Song" as well as "Gravity", the song that was used in a Jeff/Annie fan video which the Community writers remade for S2E21 (Paradigms of Human Memory).

One important thing to keep in mind is that the fanbase had no idea that Dan Harmon would return for Season 5. As far as they knew, he was gone for good. So they protested season 4 by disliking the change in tone and style. However, people who watch Season 4 with the benefit of knowing that Dan Harmon would return are able to take this season at face value: Different from classic Community, but still decent and funny in it's own way, for the most part.

Having seen this show a few times, I definitely agree. If I had not known about all this drama, season 5 or 6 is where I would have guessed Harmon had left the show.

Thee Chronicle

Yeah season 4 is actually really good strangely it becomes average when Dan Harmon actually comes back. Lol

George Baxter

Season 4 enters self parody. Everything is brightly coloured and appealing, story solutions become easy and the Dean puts his name in every sentence. 5 and 6 are darker, closer to Rick and Morty in weirdness but they also explore much more interesting concepts

Btw, anyone who wants to really understand community needs to watch the documentary Harmontown. The creator of the show is flawed but you just don’t get Rick and Morty and Community without controversy
