Jeff's dad is about as much of a dick as you would expect.  Adam DeVine cameo was much welcomed!

SO EARLY!!!!! I'm actually gonna have to get work done this afternoon. Double edged sword, I guess.

I know a lot of fans were disappointed with Season 4 as a whole, but I still love Jeff's speech in this episode. It was a big moment for him and from this point on it is more noticeable how he expresses just how much he values his friendships with the gang.

This season (so far) takes underlying character stories that have been subtley growing over the first 3 seasons and brings them to fruition. For better or worse, they're taking giant leaps forward in story progression. For example: Just in these first 5 episodes - Meeting Jeff's Dad - Britta and Troy dating - Annie and Jeff talking about their feelings I always thought I wanted to know... wanted to see where these things were taking me, but I ultimately ended up feeling let down. It might not even be an issue with the execution. I think Community works best as a sitcom avoiding being a sitcom. One of the appealing parts about it is that it intentionally doesn't fall in line with romcom tropes, and it takes the tension between characters and allows it to become part of the characters themselves. When the tension is released, I think the characters become a little less nuanced. And so far this season, they just jump into the deep end... Putting everything to the forefront like this is ultimately one of the things that makes this season feel, to me, more like other 23 min sitcoms and less like the brilliant, creative, special show it was previously. That being said... pretty funny episode and great reaction.

Season 4 is great. Same level as the first 3. Season 5 and 6 are a step down for me. Micky is just being annoying now with the constant season 4 jabs. There are so many classic episodes in season 4.

I agree this season just feels like a completely different show. It's not bad, but it's just too "on the nose". I would also say "very American", but I'm afraid too many will get offended. I think what Mikey said - "it feels like a show it was originally making fun of" - is 100% on point.

Dan Harmon had always wanted Bill Murray to play Jeff's Dad (Bill Murray's character in Stripes is named John Winger) and had been putting off telling the story in the hopes they would be able to get him. Can't imagine what that might have looked like

I can see why he would go for that... Bill Murray would be a HARD person to hate on making the dynamic between him and Jeff more relatable to us. - Suraj
