This was an intense episode!  Deku's courage.  Bakugo's IMMENSE EGO.  But one thing is certain, Bakugo is a BADASS fighter, the way he manipulated his quirk and used it to enhance his melee combat was a treat to see!  Really excited to see these characters grow and see how creative they will all get with their quirks!

It's actually really interesting. Bakugou grew up with a strong superiority complex, but around Deku he goes 180 and develops and inferiority complex. He's such an interesting character at this point.

To me, it feels like he has both of those complexes crammed into himself around Deku, he feels superior back when he was young, when Deku didn’t have a quirk and now that Deku has one, he’s slowly feeling insecure and thereby feeling inferior to him.

Kacchan and his reasoning becomes much more understandable as time goes on. Plus, the dub can convey meaning differently than the original.

i see bakugo as the star athlete that was always told how great he is. he has let it go to his head and bought into the hype. everyone has always given him a free pass and let him get away with anything. the only one that ever stands up to him prior to U.A. is deku

It's actually crazy when you think about it. In a lot of scenes so far Bakugou says "you were acting weak all this time", which means that Bakugou acknowledges that Deku is not weak. In fact Bakugou keeps trying to use huge moves to bait Deku into using his power, which means he thinks Deku can fight on those terms. Bakugou considers Deku to be strong, even stronger than he really is. That's what infuriates him.

Watching these reactions are my first time going back to the very beginning of the show after finishing the most recent season. While I love season 1, in my opinion 2 is even better and 3 is even better than 2. I’ve also read the manga for season 4 that’s coming next fall and it’s even better than 3.

I just want to say this because I’m not sure other people have said it or mentioned it yet. But at this point in time Izuku can either use 100% of his power or none. Whether his full arm, his pinky, his toe, etc. so that being said if he punched Kacchan with his pinky, or his arm with 100% power it would kill Kacchan.

The thing about bakugo, is that he was always told he was the best. But he was told that because he is actually really good! His superiority complex is completely justified. Which in my opinion makes him awesome

Near the end of this video they said he was sick. I imagine they they binged alot of the shows he was reacting to and it made it seem like he was sick or absent for weeks, when it has actually only been a few days.

Something else I just realized after rewatching this was the confusion between Chris and Mickey about naming conventions. In Japan, its typically normal to call someone by their last name. Hence, why people say Bakugo instead of Katsuki or Midoriya instead of Izuku. The English dub just kept this convention instead of calling them by their first names. Also, before Uraraka (Ochako) refers to Izuku as Deku only Bakugo did that. It's not really explained that well in the English dub because its a Japanese convention, but the Kanji in the Ku part of Izuku and Deku put into the correct context can either mean "you cannot do it" or "useless" as Bakugo calls him, or "you can do it" as Ochako reminds him in the Subbed version of the anime along with saying it sounds cute. Beyond the saying it sounds cute that is why Midoriya instantly insists that Deku is okay, because she reminded him of the "you can do it" meaning and he basically turns it on Bakugo in this episode when he decides that it will no longer be an insult. Also, Midoriya is the only one who calls Bakugo Kacchan its basically taking Katsuki and putting Chan with it. Chan is an honorific you use in Japanese for people close to you (like best friends, female family members, children, or lovers). It's most likely Midoriya called him this when they were both kids as a nickname for a best friend. Anyways hope this helps!

Bakugo ended up getting mixed signals thanks to his warped perception and insecurities leading him to think that Deku was the prodigy and not him when it's the other way around. Even if Bakugo is a dick, that's a seriously messed up way for a kid to live.

It depends if you can understand him his worldview. I mean I'll be honest his worldview is kinda fucked up bc of how he was raised, but if you try and decipher his story throughout the entire series you'll see that he's grown. His foundational world view is fucked up but he's kindof shifted it to the point where a lot of people love the person he's become. His entire world is centered on his belief that being strong is synonymous with being good. So the source of his disdain for Deku was that he, someone who is weak, always tries to help him. In his view it's the same as looking down on him. So Deku, someone who is much weaker than Bakugou, looking down on Bakugou is the greatest insult to his pride imaginable.
