Super digging Mikey's cardigan. Great reaction guys, it was loads of fun watching your reaction and getting your thoughts on the both the show and the real life implications. If you want to watch something similar to Mindhunters you ought to check out Manhunt. It is also on Netflix. If you decide to react to it, it would be amazing!

Bill wasn't acting slighted in my opinion. I don't think Bill could care less about newspaper recognition. He was concerned about Holden's growing arrogance in his style of interrogation. It worked only a couple of times, and each of those times both Bill and Dr Carr cited other sources and methods of detective work that majorly contributed to Holden's success. Holden is taking his "I can read serial killers" too far, putting too much stock in it and not being cautious, at all. Profiling is still a shaky science, there's still so much to learn and unlearn. Who knows what kind of bias Holden himself is putting into his field research? I think the end of this episode showed just how much of his own fear and worry he was ignoring just to make an impression. You could see from the beginning that Holden has a fixation with being a big deal, any time something works out for him his ego was raised just a little bit more. Plus, he kept absorbing Kemper's attitude into his personal life (becoming overly self assured and dismissing his girlfriend, wanting her to just "shut up and adore" him"), which showed that his style of interrogation -empathising with killers to find a motive etc - can quickly get out of hand. The justice system we have now actively victim blames, as a result of the untrained public reading about the findings of the FBI research and investing empathy into understanding serial and spree killers. We say "why wasn't that person more careful" and not "this man/woman sought out someone they could manipulate". Because it's science, because it's studied, we learn to separate from the reality of what these killers are. Victims aren't people, but clues to a killers psyche. That's what that whole courtroom scene was about. That sometimes treating these situations as simply an ongoing study kind of dehumanises the people that suffer. Dr Carr wanted a killer to get a lighter sentence so that other killers would talk to them, but what about the victims? There's no gaurantee that anything they do or gain from this investigation will help the police catch the killer. And what if the police decide to improvise and it goes bad? What if they follow the guidelines to a tee, but the work isn't as comprehensive as the FBI think, so killers go free reagrdless? What if it leads to wrongful imprisonment because of stereotyping? Public humiliation or isolation, like the principal? I mean, I 100% believed that the principal was out of line, and should have lost his job, but there was no concrete proof that he was a sexual predator. He was just a self righteous man, who is now ostracized. People will forever think he is a sexual predator, even though there's no proof. You may disagree with me, but I think the show was just trying to convey that Holden was actually out of his depth and kept swimming deeper. He didn't want to take it slow, and it cost him. He wasn't as bulletproof as he, or we, thought.

That ending with Holden and Kemper was terrifying though... I couldn't breathe while I watched it, I was in shock, just hoping Kemper wouldn't do anything.

I hated Holden by the end. Got cheated on and still got broken up with in the end.

You two should check out Homecomming on Amazon. I think you'll really love it after watching mindhunter.

Great reaction guys. This is such an amazing series, especially when you have the visual effects genius of David Fincher! He does such a great job of tapping into the dark side of humanity...like Zodiac, Seven, Fight Club, etc. That's also why it may be taking so long for season 2. He does have a reputation for averaging 50 takes per scene! haha...

Ever think of doing season 2. I really enjoyed the discussions around these reactions.
