Holy shit yes, one of my absolute favorite episodes. The relationship between Bojack and Sarah Lynn is so incredibly interesting. Bojack is right that Sarah Lynn is the only person who could possibly understand him.

Sarah Lynn?

I love this episode.I'm actually shaking after watching the reaction - trouble writing. ISo many moments...the hotel room and the planetarium are the highlights for me, but the line "Wherever you are, please come home" breaks my heart every time.

I love this episode so much. It hits you like a truck. Great reaction. Cannot wait for the finale.

Their bender was estimated to be about 6 weeks. Man, the ending of the episode never fails to make me tear up.

man This is episode is so good, the first time I saw it I couldn't believe that a show like this would actually kill off such a big character

It's stupid, but I wanted to ask if you guys would react to Bojack's Season 4 trailer before starting the season. I love the way it sets up the first two episodes without spoiling much of the rest of the season.

Sara Lynn’s last words were “I wanna be an architect.” Damn.

Basically it just gets more depressing from here on out. This last season was lighter than the one before it but still really heavy. It's still funny and the show's quality gets better, and it gets more interesting, but it's still really hard to watch and really hard to binge. Sometimes you start an episode feeling happy and end it wanting to slit your wrists and wondering if happiness is real or just an illusion evolution made up to keep us having babies... oh fuck, it begins.

I actually have a hard time choosing which is darker and more grounded - S04 or 05. Both are amazing though.

Season 1, episode 3. Sarah Lynn's music video takes place in a planetarium. A flashback to young Sarah Lynn reveals she always wanted to be an architect. Finally, Sarah Lynn predicts that she will tragically die young. The continuity and call backs on this show are too good.

I am pretty certain that's actually what lifeguards are taught, as some people will literally push you down to drown and there is no way to help them without taking yourself down. But, the point of that story was that's exactly what Bojack is doing to the people around him, and it's evident in what happened to Sarah Lynn. He pushes everyone down with himself in his destructive habits, which is why people need to distance themselves from him.

Another tidbit: the painting at the beginning was not Snow White, but a painting of Ophelia from Hamlet--as represented by Sarah Lynn. It was clever foreshadowing of her own tragic death.

Neil Patel

Yes Bojack is a black hole taking everyone who gets close to him down with him. And he's not willing to change, so the only way he'll ever change is if everything gets so bad that he has no choice left, between changing or death.
