They said way back in the series that the war started because there was already animosity between the military and,the ishvalans until it broke loose, when an officer accidentally killed an ishavalan child

Definitely one of my favorites! That superposition shot between Scar and Kimblee always gives me chill! And I love the talk between Ling and Bradley about what it means to be king!

The next 4 episodes are some of my favourite ones in the show. Can't wait for those

To answer Navi's question, yes the Ishvalans were actually very well armed. We saw one flashback in episode 10 where they had machine guns gunning down Amestrian troops. Then we saw the Amestrians bring in the alchemists like Mustang and it became a slaughter.

Both Ed and Scar's brother gave up their right arms for their little brothers... I really felt for Scar this episode. I know it doesn't excuse him killing Winry's parents, but he literally went insane in that moment. I think anyone would knowing your whole family was dead and waking up to find your brother's arm attached to you. His cries of agony at seeing his homeland ravaged was heartwrenching. It's sad, most especially since Scar was so against violence and using alchemy.

The next episode can't come soon enough

I think killing Winry's parents is more excusable than his serial killing later. He did go insane in that moment, he didn't know where he was or what had happened, he had an arm with tattoos that didn't belong to him and all he saw were people who looked like those who had killed his people. It's also obvious that he feels remorse over it. On the other hand, his killing spree later was committed when he was completely sane and rational and he did target people who had nothing to do with the war, such as Ed. Just my thoughts about it :)

I just realized something.. Maybe he wasn't just raging, maybe he thought that Winry's parents were alchemists who did some messed up experiment to give him his brother's arm. That would make sense right?

I doubt he was thinking enough to have such a complex thought. Pretty sure he was just pissed off, saw what he perceived to be his enemy, and then went berserk on them.

Speaking of juxtapositions... the 12th prince and the 12th... well, you know.

I always assumed the machine gun was stolen; we see the Ishvalans underequipped a lot more often. The reason they kept it up for 7 years was because it was a gurrilla war, and until the final order Amestris wasn't trying to exterminate them. The technology discrepancy between the US and many middle eastern countries is far greater than Amestris and Ishval, yet guerilla warfare renders jet fighters useless and enables a handful of rebels armed with small arms and pipe bombs to put up a staunch resistance.

Lalisa Truong

Yeah, tensions were rising even more when Ishval got annexed and then killing that Ishvalan child was what finally ignited the civil war.
