I laughed at 'space bar'.... Ignore the haters Nahid! Puns are the highest form of humor!

Chris V

I think the reason they didn't laugh is because Suraj made the same7similar joke not too long ago. But you know...puns are great no matter what.

**No Spoilers** Nauvoo is named after the town in Illinois where the Mormons settled until Joseph Smith was killed. After that, they went to Salt lake city. And it isn't heading towards the sun. It was going to knock Eros into the sun, but orbits aren't so simple that you just point in a direction and expect something to go straight. Even in a game of pool, you send the cue ball to hit the other balls at an angle, now imagine if those balls moved in ellipses (ovals) rather than straight lines.

Rana called it, about the ending! She a true beltalowda, copeng!

**No Spoilers** Also, they don't make it clear in the show, but the reason they need to use the Nauvoo to do this is because it is the only manmade object that is big enough and has the engine power to get it up to an insane velocity, since velocity can partly make up for mass. The mass of the nauvoo, plus its high velocity, is just enough to move the much much larger Eros out of its orbit, and heading on an orbit that takes it into the sun. Of course, now Eros dodged the Nauvoo, and the Nauvoo, far from going into the sun, is actually moving so fast that if they don't stop it and bring it back, it will fly straight out of the solar system.

Yeah; the authors talked about at one point how if they kept the speed realistic, you'd never actually have a chance to see the Nauvoo; it'd go by in less than a second. This was an artistic change so that you could actually see what Eros did.

I have been down with this show since day 1. This is such a amazing and under rated show. I am so glad that you guys are reacting to The Expanse. The book series sounds great too.

Asadullah Khan

Awesome reaction. One of my favorite episodes in the series. Next one is probably my favorite, can't wait to see what you guys think of it.

The scene in the book is brilliant, and a very terrifying twist; until that point, you have various radios on Eros still going, with garbled bits of everything being sent out. It's the music that Diogo (the kid) was listening to, after someone sampled it and made music from the dying sounds of the infected planetoid. With this, scene, it largely plays out the same, until: "There, in the center of the fiery bloom, Miller saw a dark spot, no more than the dot of a pencil’s tip. The ship itself. He took a deep breath. When he closed his eyes, the light pressed red through his lids. When he opened them again, the Nauvoo had length. Shape. It was a needle, an arrow, a missile. A fist rising from the depths. For the first time in memory, Miller felt awe. Eros shouted. “DON’T YOU F-ING TOUCH ME!”" And with that, the game changes again. The station dodges, and the rules are changed forever.

Also, cool detail about the launch scene. The VFX people were on reddit, and mentioned that the images of the Nauvoo launching in the command center, and the hologram of the ship itself weren't just added in later: they projected it for the cast, and actually had the hologram running so that the actors and actresses in the scene could more realistically react to it. Hence partially why it doesn't look as good as some of the other high end tech we've already seen.

Eros is an average 16 kilometers in diameter, though its longer than it is wide (34 km long, 11 km wide, 11km high). The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was only 10 km across. Here is a size comparison of Ceres and Eros: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/433_Eros#/media/File:Eros,_Vesta_and_Ceres_size_comparison.jpg And here is Earth, the Moon, and Ceres https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceres_(dwarf_planet)#/media/File:Ceres,_Earth_%26_Moon_size_comparison.jpg

Just click on the "The expanse" tag under this post or in the side-bar to the left right under "Vikings" and "Schedule", all the episodes should show up then. I had similar problems finding it on the main page and in the early access tab. Just don't stop tagging these episodes Nahid or I'll never be able to find them.
