wow, one of your best reactions!

Preach Nahid!

Aww man this reaction had me tearing up. It's so cool to see other people inspired by the same things. This show really gives me that sense of childlike wonder again.

Irohs character was dialed way back after the voice actor, Mako, passed away. I think he would have played a larger role in the fire chapter.

Woo! Finally!

Rich Cassou

Such a great episode, so happy to see the dragons!

Nicolas Cooper

Ahh yes!!! Finally. I have been waiting for The Normies to react to this Episode for so long!! I totally agree with Suraj in this Episode, the imagery displayed here was astonishing!! Especially when Ran and Shaw gave them their visions of the meaning of Firebending. As well as the parallel shots with Aang and Zuko doing The Dragon Dance. Simply Amazing! 🙌🏽 For me, this is one of my Top 5 Favorite Episodes of A:TLA. My reason being is as they've discussed, it altered my perspective of what Fire is. It wasn't just a tool for destruction, as Aang said, "It's Energy.." and what stuck with me even more was what the Elder described it as "Fire is Life.." Incredible. As a kid growing up watching this show, this along with a few other Episodes, help expand my understanding of our world around us. I truly believe that because of the many Life Lessons presented in this show, it helped shape who I am today, and still does. I'm sure many of us here who had the pleasure of watching this growing up can say the same. And now, these lessons are passed to The Normies, who I hope will have a lasting Love for this show as many of us do. Keep up the tremendous work Normies!! I can't wait for more reactions and Series Finale!! 😭😁👏🏽

So glad you guys enjoyed this episode! But if you thought that one was good oh boy oh boy you're in for a TREAT from here on. Each episode from now on just gets better and better. And the finale... YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE YOUR MINDS. The movie doesn't do Avatar justice at all. Also I hope just the Cozy 4 watch the finale and then if you wanna do a discussion with the group that's fine. Also from here on you'll see why I ship Katara and Zuko so hard in the series.

yo this was a great reaction, the dragons were so detailed and vivid looking.

TJ Frangie

I'm so anxious for them to watch the rest of the season! It just keeps ramping up until the end. Can't wait to watch your reactions to the last half of the season.

Great Reaction as ALWAYS! Thank you #FireisLife

As a viewer who's seen the entire show multiple times since childhood, this reaction, and episode, has got to be one of my favorites. Throughout the show, we've seen how cruel and violent the fire nation is, but his episode we get some insight as to why; they've lost touch with their true selves. The Dancing Dragon is an original fire bending form, and now, the fire nation bans dancing in their homeland, as shown in "The Headband". Really hits home that the fire nation has lost their way. P.S. Nahid, you woke af

PS

Please keep it as the cosy four for the rest of the episodes. I love how at the start you think Iroh killed the last dragon, and at the end he protected them

TB

I love one of the implications of this episode with Iroh. "So Iroh where's the proof you killed the last dragon?" "Oh there was nothing left for me to bring back." And everyone was just like "okay we believe you."

Jason mcconahey

I think irohs known as a honest man and he probably was firelord at the time so no ones really gonna question him

Bruce

You guys HAVE to watch Korra after.

watch it by yourselves

Keep It Zen

I believe the creators have said that Iroh's storyline was always planned to go this route, not entirely sure though.

Angel

Cosy four for the finale!!! Also I'm really surprised no one has said this episode is lit lol

Lego The Office

I think a fan submitted Q&A with any Normies that wants to discuss Avatar with Cozy 4 is a great idea Suraj! I think Blind Wave did something similar and it gives all the Normies a chance to just recap the series with the 4 of you. It also gives Chris and Marketa a chance to join you both because I've been dying to hear more about their thoughts. I know things seem sad with the series ending soon for the four of you, but trust me when I say it isn't over. I have been waiting for months for this reaction. Beyond the 4 part finale, this is my favorite episode because it finally brought Aang and Zuko together. I have been looking forward to seeing you four reacting to this, but I've really been looking forward to Nahid's reaction the most. Dude, I knew you'd make that face when you saw the dragons! I knew the Normies would go nuts when they saw the symmetry in the Dancing Dragons scene. It was a beautiful scene and every single person I've gotten into this show feels especially woke after watching this episode. Because it causes you to completely reevaluate fire-bending and our own prejudices. I watched the show as it aired so I spent years watching Zuko, Iroh, Azula and the Fire Nation so by the time this episode came on I thought I had a pretty good handle on what Firebending was. This episode completely upended that and I walked away feeling as woke as Zuko and Aang. Even this late in the game Avatar was schooling me. Suraj, the boner comment while holding Appa in your lap made me LOL, poor Appa. Run buddy!

This reaction felt like it had a different vibe than the reaction to the previous episode, I dont know what was different about the timing of when you guys watched the previous episode, but you guys seemed more invested in this episode than the other imo.

Oscar Villalobos

As Suraj finishes the series he is beginning to understand why were furious with that horrible movie.

PS

Suraj is getting buff, soon he will have trouble doing Peter Baelish impersonations

I get what you're saying. The show managed to make dragons seem incredibly huge and powerful and special. The movie made a dragon kind of unremarkable by comparison.

I always found it interesting how earlier this season, we found out that the Fire Nation has outlawed dancing for everyone; and yet the purest form of firebending is called "The Dancing Dragon". It really shows how far the Fire Nation has strayed from their true path.

15:30.... Caption this, haha

should prob watch three since next episodes is a two parter

The way you guys reacted to this episode alone, I can’t wait for your reaction on the series finale. You guys should really just do the finale by yourselves.

Don't worry about the show ending Normies, Avatar stays with you for life. You learn something new with every re-watch (I'm on the 18th and counting). It's there for you when you're down, or when you feel like you're straying too far from your path. This reaction did that for me. The talk Nahid was having about fire, how something so simple can be so destructive, like the wildfires here in Oregon, also brings us warmth, food, light, and life. It made me realize (and I have this realization a lot) that all the itty-bitty problems that I put so much importance on in my head are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It's all about balance. Everything in the Universe is about balance, I'm sure in more ways than we can comprehend. Since fire can be so destructive, it is equally helpful and constructive. Since water can give life and put out fires, so too does it drown and take part in tsunamis and hurricanes. This show teaches much, but most important of all, is that we must gain balance within ourselves, to save ourselves from our other self. Only then will our true self... reveal itself.

Please for the love of Avatar please watch the finale alone!!!!!!!

Zach

Great reaction! One of my favorites, for sure.

Will there be a double reaction next Week? ep. 14 & 15 are part 1 & 2!?

Asadullah Khan

Such a great reaction. Such a great episode. Nahid dropping truth bombs. GG.

Andrea C.

After you all finish the show can we get a movie discussion? I think it’s just hilarious to see people talk about how bad the movie is compared to the show.

thenormies

We did the reaction to the movie. It's on Youtube as well on the Vault on Patreon

Lalisa Truong

Oh, I definitely agree! You can even say that I hold many of these life lessons close to my heart still <3

Lalisa Truong

"Because it causes you to completely reevaluate fire-bending and our own prejudices." Avatar in a nutshell :D

Lalisa Truong

I really loved how before S3, the people of the Fire Nation were at times shown in a negative and even evil light and firebending was viewed as destruction and something to be despised (especially when the main protagonist feels the same way). As little kids, of course we'd naturally view it like this, which is why when S3 finally came, it was so eye-opening for a lot of us. Again, its like Aang said in "The Avatar and the Firelord", anyone is capable of great good and evil and following that line of thinking, not everything is so black and white. We saw how even the people of the Fire Nation were suffering because of this war and how some of them were horribly treated by their own people ("The Painted Lady").

Nahid can't even

DSP

Honestly if anyone ever asks why youre not doing group reactions for the very few episodes left....show them this reaction. You cant get this type of intimacy and atmosphere with a huge group

Did you guys notice the cinematography in the dragons' scene? The camera was shaking subtly, it really made you feel how huge and powerful these creatures were. It also added to the intensity and the impact of the moment, not only physically being circled by gigantic ancient dragons but also what it meant for Aang and Zuko spiritually. It's a fairly simple detail and kind of goes unnoticed sometimes, but I totally believe it made a HUGE difference in how the audience experiences the scene. It gives me goosebumps every time.

J

God, their faces at 15:30. Reminded me of the first time I witnessed the magic of that scene.

The Boiling Rock is next!!

Rebel Pilot

also I feel like Avatar is the best example for some stories are just better told in animation/serial format and not as a movie or even a liveaction version Edit: also in Fire equals life I would even take it further that no one can live without any of the elements. air to breath, earth to grow and stand and nurture from. water to drink and fire... well imagine life without a sun.
