Daemon was not trying to bond with Vermithor last season. He was just working on getting the older dragons used to human presence again to prepare them for new riders. Vermithor and Silverwing have essentially been hibernating on Dragonstone in isolation for 3 decades at this point, since the death of King Jahaerys. A dragonrider cant have multiple dragons at once, nor can a dragon be bonded to multiple riders at a time. Daemon already has Caraxes.

You're both right and mistaken. Daenerys is the first in recorded Valyrian history to bond to all three of her dragons - as a dragonrider she solely mounts Drogon and the two others follow. She is bonded to all 3 through blood magic.
