I appreciate the nuanced discussion at the end. During the episode i was like, "Come on, guys" I know we like Kafka and it feels icky to see people being mean to him, but if we think logically, it makes sense. If a very nice best boy in real life had a nuclear bomb embedded in their chest, we wouldn't just let that guy walk around unattended. It doesn't matter how often he volunteers at the orphaned puppies with leukemia soup kitchen. Also if you remember, Director Shinomiya's wife was murdered by Kaiju AND His daughter was almost murdered by the first Humanoid kaiju they ever saw. Because Kafka wasn't the first humanoid kaiju they saw. It was the kaiju that popped up during the mission who almost killed Kikoru. You can understand why he'd be taking the appropriate caution. Because every bit of experience he has with kaiju is them causing wanton murder and destruction.
