Marketa is such a European... She understands that there are no winners in all-out wars, and that it's possible to negotiate a peace agreement where nobody is happy but everyone is satisfied. It's the kind of understanding you get when your nation's whole history is being one of those little tokens on a map that Aemond and Aegon are squabbling over.

So Rhaenys died.... for plot? She could have left but decided to turn around and suicide when she knew that Baela and Rhaenyra needed her now more than ever. House of the Dragon has had the theme of women being strong and underestimated, and then arguably the smartest and strongest women in the show decides to commit suicide for no apparent reason. Unless I'm missing something, her death accomplishes nothing other than providing an epic dragon battle for viewers.

A lot of stupid unsatisfying things happen in the story purely for plot. Just got to accept it, otherwise we wouldn't have the story and show. I'd much rather watch the alternative timeline where Aegon is raised as a decent prince and is the best dragonrider of the age, but no one is writing that story.

Willem Blackwood, the 2nd guy who spoke with Daemon, is the kid from Season 1 who killed the man taunting him after vying for Rhaenyra’s hand

#sundayrundown I heard this mentioned in the reaction, so I wanted to answer something about Aegon (I have not read the book). No, Aegon dying does not end the series or the war. The Greens are not just going to surrender and leave King's Landing, they will just move on with another King. The problem they face is that if Aegon is dead, or unable to rule, he does not have a clear heir since his son was murdered. That means they will have to select another. It won't be Jaehera or Helaena, it could be Aemond but he's currently their best military asset. That leads me to believe that the most logical option is Alicent, since she's the only person left that actually ruled as Queen. It would be the ultimate irony too, since Aerys making Rhaenyra , a woman, his heir is the thing that started this whole mess in the first place. Also how sick will it be to have the two Queens/former-best-friends leading the war?

It's upsetting Criston Cole is a really good military commander and strategist. This episode did a fantastic job establishing him as something more than a character just to hate and a real problem.
