#SundayRundown, FMAB. This is a big episode, and I think an important contrast to the previous one. The show has now demonstrated the horrors that can arise from extremes in both religion and science. It was in different ways, but the evils of both were rooted in disregard for life. Cornello used religion as a way to control his followers, in the hopes that they would gladly throw away all of their lives for his goal. Tucker, on the other hand, saw no problem with uses the lives of those he was supposed to love in the name of his own goal. At some point, the author of the FMA manga released a short prequel chapter where, among other things, you see Tucker's wife before he did what he did to her. And you see that he even lied about her being "unsatisfied with their lifestyle" and how poor they were: she was sweet and supportive, and encouraged her husband that she believed in him, and he would find a way to do what he needed to do. And then it ends with a rather horrifying panel of his face as he stares at her, and she gives him a sort of confused smile, not understanding what he is thinking as he says that she is right, and that there IS more he can do. But, of course, the audience knows what he's thinking. It's not something that would make sense to be in the anime, but it's an extra awful layer to the story all the same.
