The Badger Moles were the first earthbenders. That's why they could move the rocks after they dropped Sokka off.

If you noticed during the episode, it was mentioned that Oma and Shu learned earthbending from the badgermoles. Each of the bending disciplines learned from a different source: Airbenders learned from the Flying Bison, Earthbenders from the Badgermoles, and Waterbenders from the moon. The source of firebending hasn't yet been revealed.

They were able to close it because they are earthbenders, the first earth benders learnt how to bend from them, similar to how Air bisons n the Moon are for Air and water bending respectively

We actually do see Appa emote similarly when they go to Rokus temple so Aang could talk to him.

Aang and Katara did kiss, they heavily imply it during the episode, and the creators confirm it during the DVD extras. Also during the story of Omashu, they learned earthbending from the badger moles, that's why those badger moles closed the tunnel (and tunneled their way out).

SECRET TUNNEL ~ Dee Bradley Baker, the VA for the head hippie Chong, also does all the animal voices for the show, including Appa and Momo! "Yeah, thanks for the help, but Appa hates going underground. [Flashes a smile] And we need to do whatever makes Appa most comfortable ..." This line always cracks me up because of what happens in the next scene when you can see how NOT COMFORTABLE Appa was flying away from the barrage of fireballs xD Hmm, I like to believe that Aang and Katara did kiss considering how heavily implied the whole thing was after lol

they are pretty great with the output weekly, so far its been minimum 2 early access a week but they usually treat us with an extra video or two. I think they might be going on a break until mid may tho from watching the video again.
