Trump and connor aren’t the same lol. Trump was still a successful businessman (or perceived) and had a strong media presence because of his reality show and is referenced in pop culture. (Dude appeared in home alone 2 lol). He had a much stronger foundation for developing a robust cult of personality. Connor just started being more in the public eye and is seen as a bigger joke. It’s more akin to like Kim Kardashian or someone becoming president. Kanye west failed miserably and this was pre-nazi kanye (i believe not too sure on timeline). So Suraj is right, it would be too much suspension of disbelief being violated.

From what I've been reading in the comments for the entire series, some people seem to not be getting the material. So my question for the Normies & the crew: Is there anyone, no names, you had to explain or have a discussion about the material from The Boondocks?

Based on the discussion at the end of the Succession episode, I'm so eager to see yall get to the rest of this season and season four. Also Chris makes a great point about Logan being addicted. It's just another way that he and Kendall are similar. In my personal opinion, I think all of the kids possess something of their father in them but this episode really reminds me of just how similar Ken and Logan really are.

For Logan, I don’t think it’s about money. He’s not an Ebenezer Scrooge. He’s just obsessed over his empire which is Waystar and feeding it and growing it. He doesn’t want to let go of it even to his own kids. It’s like Waystar is his true offspring. But it’s twisted because work isn’t everything.

#SundayRundown Roman cares a lot, his family is the only thing he has. He says “can you call me when he is less scary?” because seeing his dad in a bad state is triggering for him. He only wants to know the strong Logan, he’s not equipped to face his dad like this even if this very same Logan is the one that abused him his entire life. It’s a lot more complicated and complex because Roman (and Shiv, Kendall and Connor) is damaged in a lot of different ways but this is the basis. Also, you know that if it was Roman in Shiv's place Logan would have slapped him instead of just yelling at Shiv. I love how Adrien Brody is just sitting in the second row of the shareholders meeting and it isn't even mentioned. Also, you know Logan lost it when he calls Tom 'son'.

If you asked nearly anyone what they thought of Donald Trump in the 2000s they would say he was a total dipshit with a bunch of money. People unanimously and correctly agreed he was a moron back then.

I don't think it was quite unanimous. There were definitely people that didn't know any better that thought he was a good businessman. And anyways he had a bigger zeitgeist presence in general, regardless or what people thought. Also, Connor's own family thinks he's a joke. I don't think Trump was quite at that level.

People forget Trump was a meme before he ran for president in 2016. He's been a major figure since the 80's and has always been made fun of by the popular culture. In the 90's he aligned himself with the Reform Party; which was a Ross Perot led thing. Even then that was looked on as comedy. He was always looked on most people as a charlatan selling things like vodka and meats. The surprise in my lifetime was the same charlatan getting enough people to believe in him enough to be president. People will vote for anything if the sales pitch is effective.

There comes a point in power where money doesn't mean really anything and power becomes the driving force; which in many way is more addictive than just wanting money. Logan Roy is a great character study in addiction to striving towards being "great".
