Archaeology can be a useful way to earn some gold in World of Warcraft, although it is not typically a popular method for making gold. 

By completing digs at dig sites, players can obtain items such as Troll Tablets, Highborne Scrolls, and Dwarf Rune Stones, which can be used to speed up or fully complete Archaeology solves. 

These items can be sold on the auction house for a premium to players looking to complete specific Archaeology artifacts, such as the Vial of the Sand Recipe. While there are no defined farming routes for Archaeology, the most effective way to make gold through this profession is to focus on a specific expansion, such as Northrend. 

Keep in mind that while Archaeology can be a useful way to earn some extra gold, it is not a primary method for making gold in World of Warcraft.
