Mastering The Ink Trader

Introduction:

Hey all, For this week of the WorthIt Report I would like to go over the Ink Trader. There is tons of gold to be made with this vendor. We will be going over the basic process for flipping for gold then progressing into increasing profit and establishing a long term game plan for using the trader moving forward.

Trading For Profit:

To start, the Ink Trader can be found in Legion Dalaran and your Faction Capital City. This is typically next to the Inscription Trainer of the city you are in.

Currently the Ink Trader trades the Current Expansion Inks at a 1:1 Ratio for Common Ink's and and 1:10 for higher Quality Ink's. This is something to keep in mind while trading with the vendor. The standard practise of Flipping Umbral Ink ( Current Ink ) is that we can leverage this price of the ink to purchase more expensive Ink's and by selling these on the Auction House.

Most Notably Older Inks tend to sell for more Gold as the materials are more scarce and thus the the price of these inks will cost more due to supply and demand, along with the material cost of crafting the old inks.

This is “Perfect!” for Flipping and as such we will want to look at each ink on the Trader and seeing if the price of older inks are worth more than the Umbral Ink. Although you may want to take consideration of Sell rate a general rule of thumb for me is 0.05 for Older Inks and I would suggest this moving forward for Flipping.

Note: However this maybe tedious to do while looking at every ink in the trader and a few months back I created a WorthIt module of Ink Trader to help with this. I would suggest putting your Price source to

 min(Avgsell, dbmarket, dbhistorical)

this will give you a better look into what ones are worth trading in this module as they go with a higher time duration to see if you can pull a profit.

Increasing Profit With Herbs:

As for Stage two, if we want to push this even further to make gold we can also see if it is worth “Mass Milling” the Herb “Death Blossom” which is the common herb in Shadowlands and as such this will be the most cost effective way to make gold with this method.

We will want to Mass Mill the cheapest Shadowlands herb and by doing this we can see if we created cheaper Umbral Ink by doing so. One thing to note is crafting the other Inks as well as these can be sold flat of the auction house for a profit and the Umbral we can flip this using the trader for cheaper.

As well as this there is a Milling Module in worthit which cover Death Blossom which can also tell you if it is worth crafting the Umbral Ink with mass milling. However, if this shows a loss then it is better to source your Umbral Ink from the Auction house but typically Mass Milling is profitable on most servers so you should not have that much of a problem.

Herbs – Ink – Crafts:

Now you have gotten to the point of trading Umbral ink and sourcing it directly from the auction hosue or Mass Milling for even more Profit. We must have a look at other ways to make gold with our Inks instead of just trading them for other inks and selling those.

This can be done by most commonly by Using our Cheap Flipped Inks and using them to craft already profitable Glyph crafts this is one of a many crafts you can do but this of course has the biggest return as Glyphs tend to sell well in shear volumes.

By Reducing the cost with Mass Milling for Umbral Ink and then Trading that Ink to the trader for alternative inks we can use these cheaper inks to craft high value items that sell fast like “Glyphs” this is so we can do this process long term and more frequently then just Flipping for old inks and selling those.

Glyphs are a well known way of making gold but by reducing the cost we are able to be more competitive and also gain more regular sales equalling in more gold each and every day.

I hope you like this guide for the week if you have any questions about this then please let me know either here or on the Discord, Happy Gold Making.
