Last month was so amazing, you guys! We created a huge playlist that I'm still discovering new music from. This worked better than I ever imagined.

So here we go with the third theme!

June's Audiography Redux theme is: Summer Days Past

Post up to three songs in the comments that fit the theme. That can mean anything you want: a song you loved to listen to as a child outside in the backyard or on a family road trip, a song your child was obsessed with last summer and doesn't even remember anymore, the song that reminds you of the summer before college, the song you listened to the first summer you or one of your friends had a car, anything you can think of when you hear that phrase.

No judgment or rules, any genre, any era, just make sure that if it's not available on Spotify you tell us where to find it. The original Audiography was 100% a piracy community, I confess, and we're not doing that here, doing our best to make sure artists get something for their work.

At the end of the month, I'll organize all the songs into a Spotify playlist (just the best way I can think of to do it, if you have other ideas, let me know) and post it here for all to enjoy!

Feel free to discuss songs as well, in the comments or on the Discord (that link is a permanent invite), conversing about our love of music and ideas is part of the point!

Summer Past is Summer Present. Take it away!

Hotel California was on such heavy playlist the summer I worked as a janitor that I once pulled in to the lot and turned off my car radio halfway through the song, and when I got in my car at the end of the day and turned on the radio, Hotel California was playing and about halfway through... eerie! In later years, Pharrell Williams' Happy and California Gurls (Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg) always feel like summer.

1. After finishing undergrad in 08 I set off with my best friend on a trip across Europe. As we made our way east, we arrived in Montenegro, only planning to stay two days, but fell in with a great group of fellow travelers & the couple running the hippo hostel in Budva. We ended up staying for a full week. Rise Up (Yves Larock) was the song of that summer there, you were sure to hear it playing at the beach-side bars https://open.spotify.com/track/2YdX7PEziOImkySNDWsaKM?si=679ba6d8df1d4bbd 2. Another defining song from the summer of 08...when thinking of summer "days past", It's hard to not associate that idea with that time of my life: American Boy (Estelle) https://open.spotify.com/track/22UDw8rSfLbUsaAGTXQ4Z8?si=024f6468d2604958 3. I follow rivers (lykke li, magician remix) https://open.spotify.com/track/4Jv7lweGIUOFQ7Oq2AtAh9?si=a60035b2a1b14d6a
