Hey folks!

I hope you've all had a great week, wherever you are in the world!

So, to say it's been a crazy and eventful week would be an understatement.

First of all, the Tokyo Capsule Hotel went super viral and ended up with 1,000,000 views in its first week, smashing all previous records on the channel (before that the Love Hotel video held the previous record).
You can watch it here:  https://youtu.be/U7Q3sKNuZA0

Then a few days ago we released the Learning Japanese with Natsuki video, on the Abroad Perspective channel, which got featured on Reddit, thanks to Natsuki's infectious laughter.

I've just released this week's Abroad in Japan video '4 Ways Living in Japan Changed Me', which is off to a great start so far. It's also the 100th video to be released on the channel, which is an awesome milestone, that I can't quite believe!
You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/i_YyFlptWik

And I'm now just putting the final touches to the Learning Japanese video. In the meantime, there's a little bonus video for you guys.

This week Ryotaro and I  went to Sado Island in the sea of Japan and filmed a new video, which will be out next week. It was an amazing trip - the scenery, the food, the people - it was  fantastic. Above there's an exlusive little trailer for you guys I put together today, with one of my favourite Japanese 80's songs. (I'm really into 80's Japanese funk at the moment. I listen to it all day).
You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/HupryBJbM6w

If you have any questions or anything I can help you with, as always let me know.

Also, I just want to say a huge thanks for your support - all of the things I've just written above are thanks to you guys for giving the channel the means to grow and expand. If Patreon hadn't been successful last year, there's no doubt in my mind the channel would probably have been wound down gradually.

Thanks to you all, we've gone the complete opposite direction and the last 6 months have seen tons of amazing videos, including some of the best ever videos released on the channel so far.

And with Natsuki the movie filming in just two months in London, there's certainly plenty more to look forward to.

Chris

Looks awesome, can't wait! :D Btw, I really love your taste in music. Any chance you could give us like a list of your favorite songs/artists? It'd be especially interesting to hear about some Japanese bands, cuz all I listen to from there now is One Ok Rock and I don't like their new direction.

Woah - celebrity treatment! *business man waves after your car as a tear slowly descends his cheek, fade to black*

I love the city pop soundtrack. Are you sure it's not going to get a content strike?

Laura Beaumont

I realize you're super duper busy but sometime could you post a Japanese 80's music playlist? Also is there such a thing as Japanese New Wave? That would be amazing. :D

Wow, what an incredible run of videos and views! Congrats! But what's this I hear "Natsuki the movie"? Dam, thats gonna be awesome. Just a quick question: what's a good place in Sendai to relax, eat some good food and have a few beers? Seems I'm staying about 5 mins from Sendai Station. Appreciate any ideas! Cheers.

You should devote a monthly Ask Abroad Live to podcast your jams.

YOUTUBE TRENDING! It seems YouTube promoted it as lots of people were clicking on it! It's pretty awesome. I knew people loved capsule hotel videos - but not this much haha.

Wow, I'm really digging that song. For a second I zoned out and forgot I was watching a video.
