In what has been a comically unbelievable week our rap song “Too Much Volcano!”, a song we wrote and shot in around 9 hours took the iTunes Charts by storm and got as far as No.14 (with a Coldplay song blocking our path!).

There are moments of reflection where you truly appreciate how awesome your audience are when you read through comments, bump into someone who knows you in the street or chat with folks here on Patreon. And this certainly been one of them.

To witness our song be propelled forward by amazing viewers around the world has been a truly humbling experience - Natsuki in particular has been absolutely delighted that he’s finally had a hit song. Those long held rockstar dreams certainly feel one hell of a step closer this week.

Unfortunately, it takes THREE long months to get any analytics or data back from iTunes, so we don’t actually know how well it sold. But we’ll certainly have to put the proceeds towards something fun like a ridiculous follow up album.

Honestly, shooting that music video was incredibly fun - even under the constraints - with a bit of actual planning we could probably pull of something truly amazing.

ALAS for now, I come to you guys with the next episode of the Patreon Behind the Scenes series for Journey Across Japan: The Lost Islands.

This week I suffered humiliation after humiliation, getting physically stuck in Japan’s tiniest shrine, being too scared to go in a cave and letting a cheeky horse get the better of me.

ALSO, tonight a brand new series begins with Abroad in Japan x CDawgVa (aka. Connor) that we like to call “Wacky Weekend”.

The premise is disturbingly simple - for one weekend every month, Connor and I will hop in the car and go somewhere wacky, weird or wonderful. The series will alternate between our channel - this month it's on CDawg, next month Abroad in Japan.

The first episode will release on his channel at 3.30am Japan time (about 4 hours from now!).

But hopefully that’s enough entertainment to get through until this weekend’s next episode of Journey Across Japan, where we explore my favourite location in the entire series - the abandoned island of Ikeshima.
