Patreon Exclusive Sneak Peek: Inside Fukushima's Exclusion Zone Trailer | Japanese Rockstar Documentary Trailer | Natsuki Patreon Vlog (Patreon)

You’d think I’d have learned my lesson after Journey Across Japan, to just go back to making simple videos in my living room, sitting on a sofa and speaking with a sarcastic, moderately agitated demeanour.
And yet for some reason, after I wrapped up editing the 28 part never-ending series, I stupidly dived straight into producing two heavy-hitting mini-documentaries about a rock star and a nuclear disaster (and you'll probably be surprised to find the two documentaries are unrelated).
But in all fairness, what the actual fuck was I thinking. Why couldn’t I just make a video reading comments out in a silly voice instead?
The toughest part of being a vlogger/filmmaker are those quiet weeks with no releases, when viewers are waiting and the clock is ticking, and you start to get paranoid that everyone will have forgotten your channel entirely.
But the rewards are often worth the wait, when those long weeks are suddenly punctuated with a new video you can be proud of.
And I’m pleased to say I’ve just wrapped up one documentary and almost finished the other - and I come before you today with trailers for both, exclusive to Patreon!

It's certainly a far cry from the wacky and not particularly serious tone I usually like to take, but once in a while I like to go outside my comfort zone and try and tackle a slightly more serious topic. Last year we had the documentary about the tsunami, this year we've got the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster, something I've wanted to cover for 2-3 years, but only finally found the time and courage to handle in 2019.
And because the mood is a bit ominous and depressing, now go and watch this trailer and witness Natsuki’s face when he touches his childhood idol.

I honestly think the highlight of the project for me was introducing Natsuki to Hyde and the scenes are utterly hilarious. I can't wait for you to see what happened (and how ever so slightly awkward it was).
Fortunately though, after these two projects - each of which will clock in at over 20 mins long - I do genuinely plan to get back into a room and talk in an agitated voice once more from now until Christmas. Expect to see the Fukushima documentary later this week! The rockstar one will be out later in the month.
Also, speaking of Natsuki in the last few days we got to hang out and produce a new Patreon vlog at our favourite spot in Yamagata (photo below)! I’ll be sharing it with you guys later this week.
Until then, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the documentaries - if you have any questions about either, comment away below and I'll hang around to answer.
Wishing you all a great start to the week!
P.S. I promised I’d tell you when the Airbnb place in Tokyo opened from the previous Patreon vlog, and it’s now available to reserve. My advice; it’s a fantastic place, but you’re going to only want to book it if you’ve got a group of four or more as it’s a fairly large place with about 11 beds, and all the cushions you can eat.
But as awesome as it was, it’s definitely overkill for couples!
