People are really excited for season 2, for good reason, but I say watch the OVA's. First 2 are fanservice, maybe you can watch that and Slime Diaries at the same time. OVA's 3-5 are about the kids, takes place just before Season 2; many watch them in one sitting. Has some interesting info. I also recommend Veldora's Journal episodes, we get some character development and other POV's to the events of the season, but it is basically a recap. You should maybe watch it on your own. The second Journal comes after Season 2 Part 1 and is more enlightening than the first one. The first 5 or so minutes of Ep. 24.9 is interesting, serves as an intro to Season 2, but the rest is pure recap.

Many tell reactors not to watch the end of the episode because they consider it a spoiler; you're the first I've seen to appreciate its placement here. Those of us who watched it when it was airing weren't advised to avoid it, and it just made us more excited for what was to come.
