Man this Tiger story hurts so much, we havent had a backstory like that in a while, the whole slavery and world building stuff be hitting every time. Koala's PTSD is so heartbreaking but at the same time its so good to see her get a little bit better and acknowlenge that not all fishmen are bad

I love this flashback. For all the structural flaws of the arc sorrounding it, the flashback might be Oda's most ambitious storytelling with tackling racism and having MLK and Malcom X - like figures (obviously not 1:1, but in allusion to) in Otohime and Tiger.

Two human okama gave Sanji the blood, after all the fishmen refused. Great reaction, I love this flashback so much for obvious reasons, but also because it really shows us how good a storyteller Oda actually is and that he manages to keep characters like Arlong relevant even hundreds of chapters/episodes later. With Oda you never know which characters will come back later in the story and I love that about One Piece. Not only the main characters get developement and relevance to the story and that's what makes it a lot more interesting and fun than a lot of other anime/manga, at least in my opinion.
