The fights in this episode were so beautifully choreographed and animated it’s just toooo good

I think they toned down the avatar state to make the fights fit better. Bc if it gave a boost like aang in the atla finale she'd be too op and wipe everyone with low difficulty lmao

Bumi and Kya’s manifestation of fear and insanity fit them pretty well. Kya’s backstory involves her eventually traveling the world (I pretty sure tenzin makes an offhand comment earlier in the season how she ended up globe trotting and finding herself) and this was likely caused by her feeling like her identity was too tied with being the child of an influential waterbender and the literal Avatar. Bumi having years in the military most likely ended up in a situation in which he was incredibly surrounded by enemies who may as well have have been as intimidating as cannibals.
