So, actual explanation of what it is. In fate zero, saber was summoned by using her scabbard as a catalyst. The scabbard has the ability of regeneration, but it can only be activated with sabers mana (so does nothing when she is not around). Kiristugu used it to save Shirou's life and it acted as a catalyst for summoning saber again. The reason Shirou had the mysterious fast regeneration was due to the scabbard + having saber nearby.
