Love Gurren Laggann. Definitely give it some time to settle but as a potential future watch to add to the list now: Kill la Kill. Same writer, director, and animators (Studio Trigger was founded by ex-Gainax members), Same vibes. Pros: studio trigger animated, scantily clad ladies sword fighting. Cons: It takes place in a high school so the main character is 17; others are 18 though. As a shorter one for a quick hype injection; the movie Promare. Another Trigger-Nakashima production. Bit different, particularly with the animation, but it wears its Gurren Lagann influence on its sleeve.

Kill La Kill will most likely be in the running for a show down the line based on how much we loved Gurren, not right now but definitely will come back
