Patreon Content Changes (Patreon)

Hey Patrons,

There have been a few rumblings on the Discord about our plans for delivering content this year and beyond, but I wanted to make an 'official' post on Patreon so everyone knows what's happening and we don't leave anyone behind. 

It's no secret that we're releasing lot of content every month, and not only do we sympathize with our supporters trying to navigate Patreon's posting format to get everything, but it also strains our own mental capacity trying to track when/where/how every piece of content is available. 

Starting now (well, technically yesterday), we're moving all of our rewards to being redeemed on DriveThruRPG (or another storefront depending on what piece of content you're trying to redeem).

When posting new releases on Patreon, patrons will be supplied with a claim code (or link) so they can add the content to their account and then download it right away, or at a later date. This means that once you claim the content on your DriveThruRPG account, you'll retain access to it forever! These codes will expire at the end of the month following release, meaning you'll have 30+ days to claim your content. 

Lets look at example of how this will be presented to you. At the bottom of every post, you'll see something like this:

There will be an "Obtaining Your Rewards" section, with link(s) to relevant storefronts. Also indicated will be a note saying when the code expires. After the claim code(s) expire, the post will become available to the public, allowing them to see what kind of content we're releasing. 

Now, you might ask, why do the codes expire? Simply, we're releasing ~10 pieces of content in the average month, which is 120+ claim codes a year. This will quickly become unmanageable.  Also, in offering the full catalogue in a product series (lets take Unbound Atlas as an example here), we are basically giving folks 400+ maps if they join for a single month and then disappear. While this is good for promotional purposes, it actually does very little to help the folks who stick around month after month (you know, the folks we are actually making this content for...). Basically, you'll get the content released while you are a subscriber.

What this means for you, our patrons...

You'll need to make sure you are claiming the Patreon content every month! I know everyone has limited time, so my recommendation will be for folks to pay special attention to the last Friday of every month, when our volume of Unearthed Spoils is released. On this day, you can check the pinned post on Patreon, where I'll include links to every piece of content released during the month. It should take you no more than 5-10 minutes to grab everything for the month, and once claimed, you can download and read it at your leisure.

Where will we be claiming the content?

Depending on what content you are claiming, links will direct you to applicable external storefront. Here is a quick summary (this might be updated/expanded in the future):
