Nah, the thing of Jeff not even knowing what he was doing, fits with the idea of people trying to do a Sting movie type "grift". All the twists that just play out and make sense later are too complex, and in the movies do seem like "when did they actually plan all that out, they were only together for a few seconds". It hung a lamp on how ridiculous it would be if Jeff really did have a plan.

I'll dissent on that one. A lot of that show is great (other than one or two episodes that I strongly dislike), but the IT Crowd was a bad introduction to Matt Berry for me. I didn't think his character worked at all, and I really missed the excellent character that he replaced. I do love him in most other things that I've seen him in, though. I thought he was a lot of fun in this Community episode.
