They really went wild with the ideas of what could happen in a convenience store. Gotta say I loved the format.

The single camera, and the black and white film are actually due to saving money rather than artistic intent. Black and white film is cheaper, and of course a single camera is cheaper than multiple cameras, and reshooting scenes for different angles is more time consuming, which also costs more money. Kevin Smith was working as a cashier when he made this. Primarily financed it by selling his comic book collection. The actors are all his friends. Often playing different roles. Especially when you only see the backs of their heads, it's ones that played other parts. Of course Smith himself playing Silent Bob. He filmed it in the store that he worked at. He could only do so at night. That's why they have the story gimmick of the shutters not being open, to esplain why it is dark in the window behind them.

you should eventually watch the sequels i personally enjoyed their animated series that only lasted 6 episodes
