How far are you up to with Doctor Who? Just wondering! :)

This is, on 2nd viewing, when I entirely lost patience with season 2. In ep 2 Troy was an impossibly naive virgin who didn't even know what sex was; in ep 3, they start it with Troy and Britta having spent apparently the last several weeks having sex and actually it's Abed who isn't mentally equipped to deal with his friend having a sexual relationship with a woman. Except, he totally knows, he just likes donuts! Waka-waka! It's such a fucking hack joke, and the entire 3rd episode is such a generic sitcom episode. None of the characters are strong, 3-dimensional characters anymore, they're just archetypes the writers use to set up the next... they're not even jokes, they're just dialogue delivered in the form of jokes. Like, everybody hates the female Doctor, but because she sucks not because she's female. Get it? It's funny. I just felt, in ep 3, how the writers turned all the characters into archetypes so as to create sitcom setups for sitcom dialogue, it's just so hard to ignore once you see it.

Eh. They got way way way worse at doing this with every episode in the series after 5x5. It's nearly unwatchable after that point.
