The problem with him telling her (I don't know his name, but the dude who listened to Otis' message to Maeve and erased it) was how he framed it. "I was trying to protect you", "I only did it because... " blah blah blah. You fucked up; own it. It's okay to explain, I think. "I listened to it and deleted it. I shouldn't have done that and I've been trying to work up the courage to tell you for weeks. I should've told you but I was a coward. I'm sorry." That's it. Stop equivocating, stop trying to frame it as "I just made a mistake/everybody makes mistakes", stop trying to frame yourself as "protecting" her, as if what you did was okay. It wasn't.
