I know, I know, but it is still April 30th in my city, so it counts for the movie of the month. Blame my immune system lol

Aliens (1986) REACTION

Comments

You watched Aliens: Special Edition, with 17 extra minutes. 😀 In the theatrical cut, we didn't see any footage of the colony prior to Ripley and the Marines arriving, we didn't see Ripley getting punished at the inquest, we didn't learn about her daughter, the scene with the sentry robots armed with machine guns was cut, and we didn't learn that Ripley's first name was Ellen. Yes, 'sensitive' is the word in that context! There have been many video games based on the Alien franchise. I think the most recent was Alien: Isolation.

It took me over five hours to watch this reaction because I kept falling asleep. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie and I loved your reaction. I just started the watch-along way too late on what had already been a long, hard day. So, I kept falling asleep on the couch, then waking up, looking at the screen and saying "Oh, I missed her reacting to XXX" and I'd rewind. Over and over. Keep up the good work, lady. Oh, an that thing you said at the end - that wasn't French. :)

Some people prefer Alien, but I prefer Aliens. It's just more my type of movie. I do like Alien a lot though. On the other hand, can I just mention that if I had access to the 'Morty's Mind Blowers' machine from Rick and Morty, I would remove my memory of watching Alien 3, and leave myself a note saying not to watch it. 🤣 That movie does have its fans, but I know that a lot of people feel the same as me!

You said that Paul Reiser's character (I forget his name) was the true villain... you're not wrong, but I've heard it said that the true villain is *the corporation* Weilan-Yutani (I think that's their name). They were the reason, in Alien, that the crew went after the alien in the first place, and the crew was deemed expendable. In Alien, the robot was the embodiment of the corporation; in Aliens, it was Paul Reiser's character. (So, you're right, he is, but he is acting as the stand-in for the corporation.)
