I agree with you completely about this movie. Hot Fuzz is so much more fun! That is one of my favourite movies. Shaun Of The Dead is quite entertaining though, although it feels somewhat bleaker. I'm glad you saw Hot Fuzz first as it might have predisposed you to dislike Nick Frost's character in that if you'd seen this first. The last one, The World's End, is also quite bleak. Probably worth seeing for completist purposes! And no, I wouldn't keep a friend around as a zombie. 😀

By the way, the woman they kept running into (Yvonne) was played by Jessica Hynes (née Stevenson), who co-starred with Simon Pegg in the late 90s/early 2000s sitcom Spaced. That show also stars Nick Frost as Simon Pegg's character's best friend, and was directed by Edgar Wright, who directed the 'Cornetto' films. It's been some time since I saw that, but I remember finding it a lot of fun. More fun than the non-Hot Fuzz Cornetto films, though not as exciting as Hot Fuzz!
