There is an ancient castle or ruin somewhere in England, can't remember where, in which multiple people have r5eported seeing a marching Roman legion fade in and out of existence right in front of them, but they only see their legs, as if the rest of the picture is cut off from view.

That country club story is hilarious to me. Stafford is literally 20-30 minutes from Quantico which famously houses both a Marine base and various government agencies. The clubhouse manager has to know it. I'm also willing to bet a few high-ranking people (potential CC members) are stationed there.
