Hey everyone!

Apologies for the dry spell.  Rest assured we've been working very hard on the next update and beyond.  I'll be posting a full-length update in the next few days, but wanted to stop in and give you an overview.

In order to update Pure Onyx's H system to be compatible not only for the 3D characters but also for the other features we want to include (more detailed transitions and finishers, clothing, bukkake FX, multi-track animations, multi-teaming, etc.), it's taken Mr. Kittyhawk a lot longer than planned. As such, we expect the next playable release to be in early February.  While we won't have all of these features ready in that release, the H system will be much more powerful and far less clunky.

We've been pushing ahead with art and design for the remaining systems that need implemented.  In a few days you'll have a *much* better idea of how Pure Onyx will play, as we'll introduce you to more of the mechanics of Mission Mode, give you an update on the RPG mechanics, and if we're lucky show off the world map :D.

Speaking of the world map, TK and I have been putting a ton of time in to knock it out.  I'm especially excited as we're getting to realize the design I've made for MATM (for those that didn't know, Pure Onyx takes place in the same setting and actually during the events of MATM).  

I included an example of what we've been working on above, and look forward to sharing details as soon as we're a bit further :D.

Unreal. As usual, mad respect for the commitment to quality and overall presentation, but holy crap guys put some content out. Literally the only thing you all have been consistent about is your bi-monthly status reports on how you need to push things back another 2 weeks.

More beautiful stuff! I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure once all the pieces are finished, putting them together will be a much quicker and easier process.

Nice! Good luck with adding all these features. I am definitely curious on what the clothing will be, being able to dress up the character with different styles sounds cool. Maybe even revealing torn versions too...

Glad to see the fidelity is appreciated, it takes alot more than you might think to make it happen. Content is coming out slowly because the pipeline is complicated. Our animated H scenes require a high poly sculpt of the characters, a low poly version, materials and textures, rigging, and then animation. This is all on the art side of things just to get the character in-engine. Ero, TK, Limbo and TMX have been kicking ass on this entire process for each character you guys have seen. The holdup in our pipeline right now is me, as our old H-animation system needed upgrading from its 2D version to handle our new 3D assets. It's been a domino effect of issues since updating one thing in the pipeline can lead to unforeseen issues further downstream. This makes it incredibly difficult to predict release dates, and we can only estimate based on issues we see currently. We have 4-6 people working on art, and 1-2 working on the code for this game at any given time (the other is working on RPG mechanics right now), so I've been a bit outpaced. Changing from 2D to 3D has shaken things up, and while it will be far faster in the long run, we can't deliver you content reliably until I finish my part of the pipeline. Like Spassmacher said, once these core elements are completed, the art team can push things through with much more consistency. We have around 10 enemies in various stages of completion that I can't complete AI code for until the H system is done. Sorry I haven't been on patreon in while. I really appreciate that you've been giving us feedback on each of the last few update posts. If you or anyone else wants to bother me more about it, I'm much more active on discord. We have a server there for IC tier patrons ($10+) where show progress updates daily and just hang out. I'm definitely not trying to upsell you though, you can DM me for free if you like. I appreciate the long and detailed response. You must understand though, that it's very tough to reconcile posts like the ones from end of december (saying there was a push to release an update on that day) followed up by a wait of what appears to be a minimum of 6 weeks. I've supported this project for years and hundreds of dollars because of the faith I have in the quality of your output, but this is starting to get out of hand. You can't get more help on your end? IDK, maybe the issue is ultimately one of poor project management? It just seems like it's been at least a solid year now of once X is completed, Y & Z will move along much faster. But X is never finished...

Seems like there's some confusion here over the recent posts. We made a release at the end of December. I understand it didn't have all the content you wanted in it, but that doesn't mean it didn't take us weeks of 70-80 hour grinds to redo things and switch over to 3D. In the post you're referring to, I certainly never said there would be a second release that day. I think you misread where I said that I hoped that we could have had the H system ready for that update, but we had to push it back because it needed more time in the oven. I also suggest joining the Discord (it looks like you're pledged to the IC tier already :D). I think it'll put your concerns at ease seeing updates in real-time.

I'm not saying you guys aren't working hard or grinding or whatever, the issue isn't work ethic (I hope) or else this whole thing is a waste of time and money and I don't yet believe it is. As far as not having the content I wanted in it, I can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that the content the majority of us are here for is the H. All I'm saying is making progress on that should be a bigger focus. There's been almost no (deliverable) movement on that front in like half a year. In any event, best wishes on future progress and I'll see if I can jump onto discord at some point soon.
