V getting discounts because of his good looks and because of his charisma calling the Korean-american lady “auntie” is such a V thing lol To be honest, the way the teams were divided was not really fair (later on the show we’ll see tutors who will divide them in better ways). The 3 members team had great advantage in numbers, being all dancers and being paired up with Tony. Plus JHope himself was their biggest advantage lol, he just leads, organizes and has that natural swag. RM and V couldn’t cook to save their lives, but their cooking performance was the most entertaining lol...too bad the guy was so biased against V from the start. Dante made no effort to overcome language and cultural barriers, it was painful to watch. The fact that Yoongi and Jin are shy didn’t help them either. He was so disrespecful to Jin, we can see how mature Jin is to handle it the way he did. And probably a lot more happened that wasn’t shown. Contrary to what some crappy old compilation videos say, Yoongi is probably the most patient guy on the group (he said he has never raised his voice to someone)and for him to have reacted like that to the point Jin asked the cameras to give them some privacy to talk...that guy must have crossed the line badly. Also Coolio saying “I’d rather eat a dog” was a little...I wonder if he knew how xenophobic that sounds and purposefully said that or was just a bad taste comment...

giving rice cakes to the neighbours is actually a real tradition of koreans. so them bringing the rice cakes is not actually very weird for them. but rapping to the neighbours? yea thats a mission ahahhaah

I felt so sorry for Jin and Suga in this episode. Dante was so irrespectful Being in a country where you don't understand very well the language, you can not speak fluendly and the people has no pacient is just one of the worst things 💀

The only thing I liked that Coolio did was the last message he gave them. To stay dedicated to their music. Everything else he did felt like he was trying to show off or feel superior for some reason. And although, it's cringe I still like to watch it because I love watching the guys do their best at everything. I think after this episode it gets a little better so I'm looking forward to your next reaction.

I’ve never watched this show just because I’ve heard it’s cringey and I can definitely see it. But I’m loving it watching it every Saturday with you and see what they had to overcome and to see them take it as a process in their growth is beautiful

I echo your sentiment. Having rappers or friends of rappers who act like Neanderthals with chips on their shoulders being in charge of things was a terrible idea. Not splitting the groups up fairly for the specific challenges didn't improve the situation. God bless the boys for remaining optimistic. Jin & Suga remaining so cool and respectful despite receiving the opposite treatment shows what strong human beings they truly are. Borahae boys 💜

At the end of the day, Coolio was just a poor choice for a mentor. Who has ever thought of Coolio as a hip hop icon, NO ONE! He could have easily recognized that BTS were just 7 humble, well mannered guys, who wanted to learn. They weren't being arrogant, using profanity or acting as if they already knew everything. He could certainly could have been kinder to them. And they guys thought so too, DT. Just keep watching.

It's in the past.. they've learn much about it actually. They're too young back than.

it is still my fav show and i never get tired of this even there was a cringe like almost every episode. they wasn't treat bts good before. i love how humble bts are they never show a bad attitude or express the anger even we know how bad they treated bts back then.

DT, although I have seen AHL twice, I am enjoying watching it again with you. Two points I would like to say: Dontae, I don't think you will see him anymore after Epi2.. He did not treat them with respect and sincerity. He seemed to me he wanted them to put on a show (clown) with dancing for the little boys. He was not into helping them prepare for their food presentation. He did not take them where they could find food; plus, he left them on their own to figure things out.. I saw the look on SUGA's face like he was getting a little disgusted and walked away from him. He made fun when they got a stuffed toy chicken. Did you notice the expression of SUGA and Hobi's faces when he hit Hobi with the toy chicken? You don't hit BTS. Also DT, remember, this is "Young BTS"; not BTS of today. That is why Mr. Bang sent them to LA to learn. When Coolio told them about "Visuals" that was a learning tool that they remembered and they incorporate today. Just a thought. 🥰

To be honest, i really hate this episode because of dante.

Dante wasn't very nice either. I was glad when they got rid of him!

I personally think the first 2 episodes were the worst. Coolio was more or less a one hit wonder. Sure, he had success, but no one knew him outside of gangsta’s paradise. He literally was pulling stuff out of his ass to say, had no real advice at all to begin with. He offered no type of constructive criticism that would have helped them grow and just basically embarrassed and degraded them. Dante, was Dante...he was a smug jerk who thought he ran the show. DT was laughing about the Dante and Coolio parts when to me, it was just absolutely disgusting how both of them treated them. It’s a reality show and with all reality shows, they are scripted and for the most part, most of these episodes were...but it just goes to show that the producers and mentors of this show had no respect for anyone but themselves. Now, with that said, the rest of the show is a lot better and I think they actually take something out of what they are there for from here on out.

You can really see here V's special quirkiness that always makes him stand out. He's always had this unique mindset if you think back on the Run BTS episodes. You can also see how big of a gap in maturity V went through from this show in 2014 to present day. He still shows that innocent curious side but he knows how to rein himself in better

I only saw bits and pieces of AHL. I can see why it’s cringey. There are a lot of parts in this episode that I didn’t like and I’m sure you guys know which ones BUT what I saw is BTS staying humble, patient and thankful. The only person that was truly respectful to the BTS was Tony. He truly enjoy hanging out with them. Things were said that were not appropriate but despite all of it...the boys always finds a way to have fun. They are still the same boys up to now and that’s what I love about them 💜💜💜

DT I really like American Hustle Life, I found the Unreleased Cuts so entertaining too, please react to them too.

TaeTae

can’t believe he called one of the most popular, charming and talented human beings on earth a clown😂 i know that this is really old but no one is on tae’s status and no one would dare say that now about him. Lol and they way they hit jin as if it’s nothing 😂

I’ve been ARMY for more than three years now but I never attempted to finish watching AHL because I find it cringe but I guess I’ll watch it with DT. 😂😂😂

I wonder how Coolio and Dante are doing now.

PIDDI

Me laughing because of all this rude people! First BTS were and are so great humble talented and friendly people (the best ever) and second you should be aware of how you treat people you dont know what the future brings and what?? BTS are world`s Nr.1 !!

Aly

if i see Dante, it's on site - he's been nothing but useless and disrespectful

sugaisagenius

Yes, and you can also see how genuine he is.I remember when Jimin said V is a friend who is “pure” and “untainted”, but not childish and that he envied V's innocent nature. He is grown and matured, but still has that "inner child" in him.

DT~~🙂 Please.. react to TinyTAN.💜💜

I hate this series... my heart pain,,

M.JK

god dante gets on my nerves so much!!! anyway this show actually played a big part in building the boys music today and their attitude towards the music scene outside of Korea. Its crazy to me the fact that they have remained the same humble, positive and fun loving boys they were back then.

I'm stating the obvious, but I believe a lot of the drama was created for the purpose of the show- which is pretty typical especially for a cable network like mnet. Later in the show you'd see a boy kinda bossing jimin around when he's teaching him how to clean a plane. According to the boy the creators asked him to act like that. So I imagine Coolio getting some sort of a guideline to act more "scary" and "intimidating" which is what Koreans would expect from a 'black hiphop artist mentor'- who knows? Also, Korean entertainment shows typically cast people even when they seem randomly approached (e.g. the neighbour they performed to), although some may be asked to sign a release form after being approached. So yeah, this makes me feel a bit better watching AHL knowing a lot of the scenarios were staged, but the drama does make it cringey and seem quite unnecessary at times. The boys' reactions seem genuine though which makes me think they weren't necessarily told why some of these people were giving them such attitudes. But as you said DT, I respect BTS for having been good sports and having taken up the challenges with sincerity.

Bangtanlicious

i agree and suga himself said that they weren't acting, and that they really had no idea. So i definitely believe that everyone but the boys were in on it lol
