Main vocal/main dancer = 1st rank in that position. Lead vocal/lead dancer = 2nd rank in that position. You can have multiple members of a group holding the same position (that goes for both main and lead)

Anonymous

The songs rm was working on with the producer were for Mono.. I know you’ve been hearing a lot about mono recently but it’s really such an incredibly deep and powerful album/mixtape. It really is as Namjoon said in this episode.. it’s the closest thing to truly expressing himself he’s ever gotten. Please listen to it when you can, I promise you’ll understand the love for it once you listen 💜

Linh Nguyen

It’s awkward to bring this up but pls pause if u have something to say, i dont want you to miss anything 🥺 thanks Mr. DT

Anonymous

a lot of the songs played this episode were from namjoons mixtape mono !!!! pls listen to it it's amazing

Keith Stephens

One of the songs that you heard was a solo RM song called “trivia: love” it is AMAZING you should definitely check it out soon

sugaisagenius

I see you D.T, you're getting bias wrecked by V. Jimin watch out lol !

Anonymous

If you’ve heard RM’s MONO, you could have recognized some of those songs. The most RM like songs are in MONO.

Keith Stephens

The other song that you heard was a song from Namjoon’s mixtape “mono”. That is actually what he was working on in the studio with the other producer. Please do a full listen to mono it is a masterpiece.

Anonymous

when you finish this documentary please start with BREAK THE SILENCE It's my favorite, 💜💜💜

Anonymous

RMs song mono is amazing. I’m sure you’ll like it. This kinda of movies is why I love BTS. You can see their vulnerability. You can see the other side of them. They are amazing human beings.

Anonymous

really hope that one day you listen to namjoon's mixtapes, "RM" and "MONO" they are amazing, some of my all-time favorite music!

Anonymous

The song that suga was performing is Seesaw! You should definitely react to the lyrics and live performance. Also you should do an album review to RM's mixtape, Mono. It's probably his most personal mixtape to date and not to mention it's so good!

Anonymous

pls react to trivia: love and mono by rm

Andréia 🇧🇷

BTS are so lovely !! They are such amazing people! 💜💜💜

Anonymous

i recommend 'Forever Rain' from MONO. it's simply the amazing song, always got emotional listening to it

Anonymous

this episode was RM focused a little bit maybe because that's around the time when his mixtape/playlist 'MONO' was released

Anonymous

you should really react to MONO it's RM's second solo mixtape and one of his best works, honestly. That playlist gives me so much comfort when i listen to it.

Carlethia Street

Thank you DT. "Burn the Stage" series is so entertaining and educational as well. You have the opportunity to be behind the scenes with BTS while they express their inner most thoughts.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Hana Park

Culturally there is a greater sense of community, as well as less aversion to affection and closeness amongst friends. With that said, not all idol groups are as close as BTS. To the point that I've seen several Korean interviewers, hosts, celebrities, etc., when asked about their interactions with BTS, bring up their genuine closeness as friends (along with their kindness and humility) as one of the things that stand out most about them.

Anonymous

the ending was him reacting to the release of his solo mixtape “mono” which is why he said it was a private moment and looked so nervous!! he was also working on the mixtape with the other producers earlier in the episode. the first song played from the mixtape was “tokyo” and the second song played near the end was “uhgood” which is my favorite from his mixtape.

Anonymous

also the solo song he performed after it showed yoongi performing “seesaw” was “trivia love” which was his solo from their album.

Mivc

So basically Main is the first position and Lead is the second. Main vocal/dancer = 1st rank, Lead vocal/dancer = 2nd rank. Jk is Main singer and Lead dancer. Jimin is Lead singer and Main dancer (Alongside JHope :D).

Neb

Bts doesn’t have the lead position, the person who operates bts profile on google says that bighit only made 3 official positions which are leader, main vocalist and visual. Lead vocalist or rapper is the position made by old fans which stuck around and people started using it so it shows up on google.

This episode has some really deep messages, feelings, and fears that the guys had and I’m sure if he got it all. Some of it was sad and touching.

Anonymous

I agree! Although culturally Korean society is more community orientated in theory, individual competition is greatly "encouraged" from a young age in Korea. The genuine sense of friendship and respect these guys have for each other is precious even in Korea. One of the reasons I can't get myself to follow many other groups is because sometimes you can sense that their relationship isn't all that genuinely close as they portray. Although I'm not saying other groups aren't close, BTS really stood out to me in the way they seem to actively work on building a stronger relationship, which is why I became a fan.

Anonymous

Sometimes I wish you could understand Korea just to fully appreciate how sweet Jimin is when he talks haha. When he was speaking with his father, he sounded so polite and sweet. :)

Anonymous

Can't wait for 'Break The Silence' after you're done with this!

Anonymous

BTS isn't just a band, it's a family. They are close, respect each other, love and support each other. The relationship they have all seven is beautiful and above all real

Anonymous

Regarding the togetherness and sense of community, I think it is really a culture thing... BTS are in fact so close but I've seen so many western reactors and even on twitter makes it like a ship or overly affectionate. While where I’m from “Egypt” this is considered very normal, actually it is the standard for friendship, if you don’t do this or didn’t care as much that friendship isn’t real or one that’ll last long, I believe it’s the same in other middle eastern and Arab countries as well. As for ur question about the main and lead vocalist, I really don’t know the difference either, I think it has something to do with the lines in the song. Because it is said the JK is the main.. Jimin is the lead,, V &Jin are vocalist. And Jk get the most lines then jimin then Jin&V and if the song needs more singing Jhope sing/rap with J-hope being a sub vocalist in the group like Jk is a sub rapper.

JK

When RM went to the producer, they were making "Mono" mixtape. You should listen to the songs from that mixtape cause all the songs from it are really good! The songs keep playing as background music. Also, you asked what song did RM perform. It is "Love". Before, they were like "main" vocalist is JK and "lead" vocalist is Jimin. But now, they don't categorize as like that. They just say Jungkook as their main vocalist.

Anonymous

naah, he is just appreciating V as he should be appreciated.

Ellie

I've learnt similar lessons from BTS to the ones you described. They've made me want to be more open and affectionate with the people that are important to me and shown me practical examples of how vital effective communication is. It's not explained in the episode but the scene near the end with RM on the couch captures the moment his second mixtape 'mono.' was released, which is why he was so nervous/excited.

Anonymous

Yes exactly! I'm Arab but was born in France, and I've noticed the same thing: western countries (like France) aren't used to having a big sense of community so it feels "different" or "weird" when seeing BTS' relationship, but for Arabs, it's the norm, it's actually how you are supposed to be: nice to your peers, family is incredibly important, a big sense of duty, generosity is a must, etc. :) which is also the norm in Korean culture. It's definitely a cultural thing, as you said it.

Anonymous

Hey DT! It showed. In the end, you looked like a very proud elder brother. 😁💜

Anonymous

DT, as someone who has lived in Korea for a long time, I can tell you that BTS's values are on a whole different level from average Korean men or women. Yes, people in Korea value community and younger Korean men are not afraid to be a bit "soft" or supportive with each other, but BTS's level of affection is actually rare/not normal (especially for men). Average Korean men don't buy gifts for each other (unless it's a special occasion), shower each other with words of affirmation, compliment each other's hair, clothes or makeup, hug each other regularly or cry that freely. BTS's high frequency of these actions is not normal but I personally wish more men would also pick up these habits so the world could become more positive.

JoY

Tae is actually filming some scenes for his winter bear mv.

"uhgood (out of place)" is my favourite mono song too. It kinda makes me teary while listening to it

daisymoon8

The positions work like this: Main > Lead > Sub

Anonymous

main>lead>sub RM (main rapper) Jin (sub vocal) SUGA (lead rapper) J-hope (main dancer) (sub rapper) Jimin (lead vocal) (main dancer) V (sub vocal) Jungkook (main vocal) (lead dancer sub rapper)

Anonymous

im about to comment about MONO, but then saw a lot of replied on that already. so yeah, hope you give MONO a listen, truly masterpiece. I remember reading a fan description of MONO (cant recall the exact source) it says "MONO is not home, it is the journey towards home".

Anonymous

As for Korean culture, I see several people have explained BTS’s attitudes are not the “ norm.” I have read one the reasons they began the “love yourself” campaign is that Koran culture has shunned homosexuality, lesbians, etc. and enormous pressure is put on children to get top grades and get into the best schools. You will notice Koreans that immigrate to the US are usually very high achieving in school, business, etc. I do wish men here were more affectionate.

I must say that watching and experiencing Singularity LIVE is 10000x time better than watching thru computer screen. just did not do any justice. Well of course all their perfs. But Singularity in particular, man. I remember I was completely in awe watching the performance live, the goosebumps all over my body. It was something else.

Dream

OK, I rarely leave comments.. but as a Korean-American, born and raised in Busan (same city as Jimin and JK), I have to write something. YES, there is an emphasis on community and togetherness through our primary and secondary education, but I have NEVER seen a group of guys as close as they are.. And seeing that kind of mentality and attitude from Jimin (who is from MACHO city BUSAN) is just mind blowing.. I am really bad at explaining, so hopefully, there is another Korean watching your video and could possibly answer your question better that I can.. Sorry, but my conclusion is- THEY ARE SOMETHING SPECIAL. Their RELATIONSHIP is something special. I don't think any group of Korean guys or girls can create the same level of bond/love that they have for each other right now.

PIDDI

The funny thing is Jin takes his PC along with him. I remember the video when jhope asked why Jin has such a great computer in his hotel room but he said it was his own and jhope recognized it. It was in Jin`s birthday vlive. Normaly people would take a laptop with them but mr. WWH took his whole PC!

PIDDI

You shoul listen to RM`s MONO album.

Anonymous

I think these were the debut positions, cause J-hope is a rapper and JK is the sub rapper Also, V is a lead dancer now as well, and both Jin& V are vocalists not sub vocalist, J-hope is the sub vocalist.

Anonymous

Also, as RM said before that there not a spirit of gift giving among them until Jimin arrived. He is the gift fairy. Now, they do all like to give gifts. Also, I’ve heard before from other Korean speakers that Jimin has a way of speaking that is very endearing, sweet and very thoughtful. Love our Jiminie.

taesthetic_mots

101th time asking you to listen to Mono mixtape :)

Anonymous

The song RM was singing in the concert was "trivia: Love" his solo. And the songs you didn't know were from his 2nd Mixtape "MONO". You didn't get that that last part was when the mixtape dropped, thats why he said that It was a very personal moment for him that we were watching.

Anonymous

I remember when V in Bon Vouage se. 1 (Norway, Sweden and Finland) talked with his grandmother in the phone the day after the other boys left. That was only about 3 months before she passed away. That was also so sweet to hear him speaking with her and greeted his grandpa. I dont understand korean, but you could hear they were close

Anonymous

DT please react to RM Mono full mixtape <3

The private jet we saw them in was lend to them by Tyra Banks, so they could perform on America Got Talent, which she hosted at that time. Otherwice they wouldn't have time to reach their next destination on the tour. That was their first time on a privat jet and they were so happy about it. They could relax witout having a lot of obsssive fans around them. Now it has almost become a standard for them with their growing popularity. Not even the judgemental netizen in Korea have said a word about it (as far as I know).

Anonymous

yeah, i can't agree more! but even though, that is true, Korean people have '정' which can't be translated accurately in English, so they are more thoughtful and affectionate to other people from what I have experienced .

Anonymous

Lol sorry DT but fans are really sensitive when it comes to the boys’ position in the group bc it’s really a big deal for us and in kpop in general 😀 anyway, this is the ranking of those positions: 1 - main, 2 - lead then 3 - sub. In the vocal line, JK is the main, Jimin is the lead and Tae and Jin used to be called sub-vocals. Im not sure but i think these days the word “sub” is no longer used in their positions, they are now simply called “vocalists” For dance line - Jhope and Jimin are both main dancers while JK is lead. Rapline during debut - RM - main rapper, Yoongi - lead and Jhope - sub. Im not aware if there is change in the rapline’s position now bc i havent seen an updated position of the whole group since debut.

Anonymous

As for the BGM that you mostly heard during this episode, they are from RM’s mixtape called MONO. It’s my favorite mixtape so far, it only has a few songs but they are all so good. My favorites are “Moonchild” and “uhgood” MONO is the best. I dont know if there is such a word but it is my comfort album (like comfort food 😀) 💕

Anonymous

Sorry i lf i have a lot to say 😅 but i just want to mention also that Jimin’s dad is known to be the sweetest dad out there. People are saying Jimin was raised in a loving and caring household and you could actually see that by the way he talks with his dad, his mom and even his love notes for his younger brother. Every year on Jimin’s birthday, his dad sends him flowers wherever he is. Never fails. And he sends sweet messages to him too. I mean, i dont have a dad like that so im envious. 😅

theGeekOutGirl

I don't know what the difference between main and lead vocal either tbh. I had to look it up, but it looks like main is number 1, lead is number 2, and sub is number 3. It's that way with the rappers too. They're all first in my preference though lol

Anonymous

To be honest DT , it’s okay to make mistakes 😂😂 People who are sensitive over the placing of the positions are as you know sensitive. So don’t mind them. It is true that positions were needed for k pop then , but I don’t think it’s necessary now though , esp for BTS. They have broken through barrier after barrier and it doesn’t make sense to box them up in their “positions”. Bangtan always think outside the box , so should we. We should evolve as human beings as well. They are all truly extraordinary people and all of them are truly marvellous as musicians.

DUDE! LISTEN TO MONO!! The song toward the end when you asked "What song is this?!" was from RM's mix tape Mono! That is what he was counting down to and got so happy about. That was when Mono was released! I love that album! The other song you asked about earlier was Trivia: Love. It is Joon's solo on the Love Yourself: Answer Album.

Seth S

That's actually incorrect, DT has a really good pronunciation of his name. Even though it is spelled with what English speakers can think of as a 'J', it actually ends up sounding more like a 'ch' at the beginning

Tric Nel

This is completely random, and I usually don't comment, but rewatching this I just noticed NJ has beautiful hands!
