Suga and JK definitely live for music thats their pation and their livelihood but i would also add RM to that group (REALLY SMAL SPOILER FOR BV4) in bv4 he even stays behind one day to work on his music (if i’m not mistaken i believe he was working on 0 o’clock) Despite us seeing Jimin as a well-rounded performer he suffers from chronic pain in his knee, as well as pain in his neck. He talks about needing to improve his stamina — inspiring his trips to the gym. so yes he is often in pain

HeatherW

I don't know if you've figured out who Manager Sejin is since you watched the first season of Bon Voyage (he was the other one who wrote them a letter in episode 7), but he's the tall guy with glasses walking to the left of Tae while they're going into the airport (time stamp: 0:43). He recently got promoted and is now the co-leader of BigHit's 'Artists Protocol Department'.

I think you could say they had more freedom to do what they want because they started in a small company but I really think it's CEO Bang PD, he really pushed them to sing about things that matter sticking true to them... You can see how amazing he is with artists while watching I-land... It seemed like he hand picked each contestant and not solely for their talent but they potential make.. he's amazing

Mivc

About Jimins pain, we became aware of it after this docu series, and we saw him feel this pain also during a boy with love performance in a festival in 2019, where he was limping because of it. But we dont see he in pain because of his knee that often, at least not for what army have noticed at least. So unless he hides it pretty well, i believe he must feel it more when he does a lot of concerts or performances in a roll for example? What we realised more actually is his constant pain in his neck. Poor Jimin :(

they all love music but i feel like RM, Suga & JK breathe and live for music. did you recognize the song that yoongi was working on in this episode? it's in the D-2 mixtape 😉

Hi DT, I don't quite agree with you, I don't think it's the fact that they were the only BigHit artists that made their success and longevity. It's first of all their talents and the coherence of their arts with what they really are, the excellence of their melodies and lyrics, their commitment and loyalty to the spirit of HipHop, and finally their unity and personalities (a lot of humility and respect towards others). Then there were other artists coming from small agencies too but who didn't do as well. BigHit didn't have 1/10 of the budget of the other agencies, and everything was done by the other agencies and media to destroy them, they were sometimes ridiculed during TV shows or not invited at all, their performances were cancelled or shortened, they performed in the background while they were winning the 1st prize. That's why they decided to do their own shows and communications with Run BTS, Bangtan TV, Bon Voyage; they were the first to be so transparent online with their fans via vlogs, dance practice, live chat...etc. Their methods are duplicated by all the Kpop whereas before the artists had rather snobbish attitudes. And finally, we have to give credit to BigHit and Bang Pd for giving BTS their freedom to create and be what they really are on a daily basis, and not to impose anything on them. This is not the case with other agencies; let's take the example of Blackpink, I regret that their music and visuals do not reflect what's behind the scene. They revealed in an interview to have signed a contract where they were not allowed to drink alcohol, smoke, go to nightclubs, drive, be in a couple, and have cosmetic surgery without authorization, they are not even allowed to eat with boys or write their lyrics (which is the 1st rule of a good rapper). I don't understand how their parents could accept this and be so sexualized when they were minors... A strong woman is not that. When we see the discography of BTS with more than 250 titles with texts sometimes worthy of great philosophers and melodies worthy of great composers, the coherence with their visuals and their choreographies... We can only understand their success.

jimin has chronic pain in his neck/shoulders, and also his back but it can really hurt in a lot of places. he will have the pain as long as he’s in this career but you can’t tell by how hard he goes and how amazing he dances, i admire how hard he works and what he does. also bts success is purely because of their amazing talents, they write their lyrics, diverse music, and their amazing personalities, etc. i don’t wanna give credit to anyone else because bh is just doing their job by being a decent company (most of the time) so it’s not really to be praised? sorry for the long comment. 😭

k !

jimin actually deals with a lot of pain. out of everyone, he seems to be one of the members with the most filmed footage of what seems to be chronic pain. you’ll see photos and videos of his back and neck being taped up with KT tape, or small clips of him receiving back and neck massages from jungkook or jin between shoots. he’s had to sit out of performances and even miss an entire tv show interview and performance in the uk due to muscle pain and spasms. there’s a clip during run bts episode 70 or so, where you’ll see the members exercising, but jimin is doing his own exercises given to him by his trainer which he even said himself might look “uncool,” because it doesn’t look as rigorous as the other members. he says it’s because his body is weaker than theirs, but the exercises are really important to him. this isn’t to say that the other members don’t feel pain the same way, or that jimin suffers the worst, because you’ll see clips of everyone in some sort of fatigue at some point. and i’m sure it’s not always like this. jimin must obviously have his better days, or even weeks, where he’s feeling just fine!

Jimin has been suffering from chronic pain on his neck/shoulders & Knee for past 3-4 years now, the pain is career-threatening ‬& untill jimin retire as an Artist he have to live with this pain said by his physiotherapist. Jimin is the most hardworking person i know, he always gives his 200% to every performance , his love for stage and dancing can be seen in his eyes and his smile 💓💓 I hope he always gets proper rest and proper treatment for his chronic pain and his injuries. mad respect to our jiminie 👏🏻💜

taehyung has been spending so much time in the studio lately. he’s been writing constantly & recording & he’s currently working on his mixtape AND the group album. i really feel like his love for music keeps growing & growing & not just music but anything art. he lives & breathes for anything artistic. i really admire the way he sees the world & the lyrics he writes always hit the hardest to me. not only do i think he live for music, but he lives for art.

adiza.

I do think its a bit of both really. In the beginning when they didn't have a lot of money for stuff like staging and fancy outfits it's always their music, choreography, stage presence and charisma that really stood out even with the bare minimum. I think now that BTS has grown into such the entity that they are now and the fact that BigHit still doesn't have that many artists works well for them because a lot of the money that BTS makes which is a ton gets put back into them an its pretty obvious by the quality of what BTS produce. All the other stuff like staging and outfits adds to the BTS experience which attracts people but its the music, message, their personalities and their blatant hard work that really keeps people around creating the loyal following. There are so many other factors to why the guys are huge but that definitely can be one.

Interesting thought! There are many small companies that only have one group to manage, but I think it's due to Bang pd's attitude towards the group that made an impact in their success. Many small companies unfortunately only think of their group as money makers. Also, I think bts never would have fit the big companies' style and business model either. Had the members debuted with another company, they may not be who they are today because of how they are managed. Bang pd started BTS because he believed in RM and his ability to do music from his soul. He encouraged the guys to make their own music and helped them grow into musicians and artists from early on, which was drastically different from the other companies. Yes, they went through trial and error but Bighit was flexible and accommodating enough to evolve and grow with BTS. The majority of entertainment companies don't allow their artists to have as much autonomy and creative input as BTS does with their music. Especially in the Western cultures, the fact that BTS are directly involved in their artistry plays a huge role of differentiating them from typical "factory made" idol groups. I personally think all these factors, luck, and the members' work ethic, personality and talent all played a part in their success. In my opinion, had BTS been comprised of only the hiphop/rapper members that Bang pd initially put together (this is before a few of them left and the vocal members joined), I don't think they would've had the same success that they have today, which is why I think all seven members are crucial. As someone who has been a fan of another Kpop group for a very long time before becoming and army, I feel a sense of pride and confidence in saying that I am a fan that I haven't really felt before, which says a lot about the kind of positive influence BTS has.

Aya

bts has never been the only artist under BH. there is a soloist (used to be a duo) called Lee Hyun who’s their senior in the company and he’s currently an active singer.

DT, the only thing I can say is that I am glad to be a Patreon subscriber so I can enjoy BTS in a way I cannot on U Tube. Bring the Soul, RUN BTS and Bon Voyage are so gooooooood. Thank you for making it possible.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🥰

Aziza H-R

I don't think Yoongi and JK are the most obsessed with music, that does a disservice to the other members passion for their craft. I think that's what makes the boys so good at making music, the fact that they all love it so dearly and express themselves in their art. We know yoongi loves production and jk is always perfecting his vocals. But in the recent vlive Jimin described Hobi as living in his studio always working and Joon is practically a songwriting machine, you can just look at how he's credited on almost everything. Tae and his consistent work for his mixtape and the newest album. Jimin being the project manager for the new album/writing songs and Jin working on songs/melodies.

Mai

I think they all love music and express it in their own way💜

onlyastarion

and i think they are very into music in their own way, kinda disservice to the others so say one is more into it than the other. they’ve all expressed multiple times how much they love music.

Tiffany Jiaxin Huang

Suga and JK are introvert introverts, so they may felt easier to express themselves through music, either composing or singing. This is the main reason that they seem to be more devoted into their work, yet in fact we cannot know unless tell by their actual presentation.

It definitly helped that BTS was the only artist under BigHit, even if BigHit didn't ahve alot back then, what they did have, it all went to BTS. It can be seen in big companies who has many groups, when they debut new groups, they kind of forget the older ones since they want to focus on the new group....... In BigHit it's really extreme how much effort they put on BTS, did you know Bang PD is actually a really famous composer and producer in Korea? not just well known, but famous famous. He was well known for ballad songs, so doing a hip hop group was sorta weird to many, like what does Band PD know about Hip Hop? that kind of thoughts...... but he really put it all into this new group, to the point when one of Koreas most establish ballad singers approached Bang PD after they had had a hit song together a few years prior, she asked him to do another song togehter....... He told her, "I can't. All my emotions go to BTS. The emotions needed to make a beautiful ballad, I am using them on BTS, I can make you another type of song, but not ballad" that's how serious he was..... That song with the vocalist would probably have earned Bang PD alot of money and alot of fame, but he chose this new group that wasn't certain would even do well........... that's the mindset BigHit had when making BTS

I'm sure the other members are similar. Especially Jimin has back, knees, and neck pain. I mean, if you look at the fancam. He has patches similar to the color of his skin all over his body and is full of cupping marks(this is traditional Korea mefical) Experts say, When Jimin dance he use different muscles even though it's the same choreography. That's why Jimin's dance looks more special. But that is sometimes dangerous .. when Jimin comes down from the stage after finishing a great performance on stage, he walks limping or he can't bend his knees. My heart really hurts. Including other members, Jimin's injuries are not temporary, but rather a chronic disease. Like professional athletes.

What do you do to be able to view this? I’m still trying to watch it

I have to respectfully disagree so if you don’t mind I’ll share with you my perspective as well (you don't have to agree with it, just sharing). I think that record labels/management agencies break or make musicians. Before 2017, they were other Kpop groups in Korea who were talented singers/rappers, wrote their own lyrics, had diverse music, had “humble” personalities, (Big Bang, Block B, Got 7, Seventeen, etc.) yet they never achieved the level of success of BTS. Best comparison would be Block B since RM and Zico performed in the underground scene together, they both suffered disrespect from hip-hop fans when they became idols and their groups even had a friendly dance battle in the 2015 MAMA awards. Zico became a solid solo rapper and a bridge between the underground and pop music scenes, even creating his own label “KOZ" last year, but what happened to Block B? The music industry everywhere is oversaturated with musicians that are talented and have good personalities. They go nowhere without 'support/backing'. Support/backing meaning a record label and management agency that genuinely wants to develop their artist and has a clear vision for them (of course fan support is vital too). As you probably saw, in the grammy museum interview RM talked about Bang Shi Hyuk’s clear vision for them which BTS didn’t understand at first and this vision is again mentioned in Bang Shi Hyuk’s letter to BTS during Bon Voyage and in Bang PD lectures in Korea. Undeniably, Big Hit plays a big role in the content that BTS puts out (Disclaimer before anyone thinks I'm a hater or something. We all already know how talented and amazing BTS are so I'll skip that) . 1. Most of the amazing instrumentals of BTS songs were created by Big Hit’s producers particularly P.Dogg. Imagine if BTS were signed to YG or any other label and didn’t have P.Dogg’s music to write their lyrics and melody over? There would be no “Fire”, “Blood Sweat Tears”, “Run”, etc., as we know them. 2. As you know, the wonderful storyline in BTS’s videos was made by Bang Shi Hyuk and Big Hit, not BTS (He has even lectured about why he decided to create the storyline). Imagine if there was no storyline? ARMY would have nothing to analyse in BTS’s videos 3. As you know, traditionally, record labels set restrictions about if and when group members are allowed to release self-produced music (even in America this is normal). Imagine if BTS had joined an agency which denied them the freedom to release their own music until group activities had died down because some members were in the military (like in EXO’s case)? That’s why I think we should give credit where credit is due. I think that Big Hit are one of the stars that had to align together in order for BTS to be who they are and where they are today. I'm glad everything aligned perfectly 💜

Hana Park

I'm sure BigHit being ALMOST singularly focused on BTS did help, but BangPD's outlook on training and the relationship between idol and company is the real key player I think. Not only are they trained in singing, rapping, and dancing, but their training also included songwriting, producing, etc. Them being involved in the creation of their own music was a part of the deal from the beginning. Another aspect that can't be ignored is the way that BH nurtured the development of the members bonds to each other. They didn't immediately step in if there were fights or conflicts between members. They expected there would be fights, but also expected them to develop the skills to resolve them amongst themselves, which has lead to the healthy relationships they have now. The dumpling incident seems silly in concept, or even the rainy day fight between Jimin and Jungkook, but what you hear in those stories is they fought, apologized, and resolved on their own. You don't hear, "management sat us down and forced us to apologize". I may put more stock in this than some, but I believe that no amount of attention, training, skill, and talent, would just magically lead to the BTS that exists today without the foundation of their mutual love and respect for each other along with their feeling that being BTS together is better than being equally successful apart.

crescent

This is what I think. They are focusing on what they can do as member of bts. They are well aware of their own strengths and weaknesses in doing music like 'some of them are better at creating and others are better at performing(singing&dancing)'. They complement each other by doing their best in their roles as members of the group. As you can see from some videos of bts, the scenes that show passion for music are often seen from the members in charge of creation. But all 7 of them practice and create a lot where fans can't see them. It's not often captured in the videos produced by Bighit, but they always show their efforts as a result(album, songs, performances).

Anonymous

Please don't forget RM's contribution bc he wrote so many songs for BTS' albums and he works soooo hard. BTS' album wouldn't be what it is without his contribution. You'll know if you watch his Vlives :). But they're all extremely hard workers and crazy passionate about their music.

Anonymous

Oh, that plane is their private jet! And just a random fact - Koreans add 1 or 2 years to their age lol so RM was technically 23/ 24 in 2018.

Elsa

Jimin has a chronic condition, it won't go away ever and it'll only get worse the longer he is in this line of work. He also has chronic neck pains and he can't exercise the same way the others do, and he most probably will have it his entire life. It's just the price you pay for getting to do this kind of work.

Anonymous

The thing with JK and Yoongi is they are REALLY introverts, music is their preferred and mostly go to activity, so you would feel they live for the music. The other guys loves music as much but have other activities alongside it.. you see Namjoon and his love for museums and reading, Jin and his love for acting and cooking, Jhope and Jimin's love for dancing, Taehyung's love for anything art and social activities in general. That's why you'll see their footage has other things alongside music, but each one of them breathes music in his own way. You'll find a cute but informative videos about their personality types called (BTS introvert line) and (BTS extrovert line), I hope you get to see them soon.

Penny D Young

When your in a big companies. They control everything. Not much freedom for anything. That's what you called manufactured KPOP like all the other groups. BIGHIT/PD Bang think outside the box and beyond KPOP mentality. The boys and PD Bang work well together even when they don't have any budget and almost went bankrupt.

onlyastarion

all of bts contribution, they all love music so much :/ thank you for saying this lol

Anonymous

RM,too. RM has more producing and writing contribution than other guys.

lucy

yes you're right but one thing, a small company is not necessarily free. there are a lot of small companies in kpop industry but most of them are just so controlling (idk this word is right) like others. it's just big hit is special. now big hit became bigger than any other big companies, but they still give autonomy/freedom to their idols invariably.

Anonymous

Yes unfortunately, its known that Jimin has chronic neck/back/knee pain from past injuries for the last few years. He’s had to miss some performances (like the Graham Norton show) and sit during concerts etc when it gets extra bad. It’s mentioned/seen in most the movies or docu series they’ve done at some point. They’ve referenced him getting shots too for the pain when they still have to perform, and he’s been seen wearing medical tape during tours/at the airport etc. multiple times. But unfortunately, with their lifestyle and his love for the stage, there’s no way to get around it. Dancing etc as a career is already very hard on the body, even without chronic injuries. It aways makes me think of the quote they reference when they released Black Swan - “A dancer dies twice — once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.”

Kat

I’ve seen a few ballet and contemporary dancers react to Jimin’s dancing and many have made the comment that people in their line of work end up with chronic pains that they still dance through (when you think about contemporary and ballet dancing especially, it puts your body in a lot of positions that it’s really not made to be in). So yes, Jimin is extremely likely to have chronic pain that he dances through
