Watching this again makes me somewhat sad thinking around this time of the year next year,Jin and Suga will be in military..on this concert,it was their first stadium concert, they have experienced a lot of "first time" throughout their career but just imagine how will be their first performance gonna be like missing 1 or 2 members..Jin will be 28 on December and in just 3 months after that,Suga will be 28 on march(next year).

Anonymous

DT-ssii then you need to watch the Fiesta 2020 Karaoke if you wanted to watch them singing other member's song

Anonymous

Yes this is what I have been thinking that everyone is thinking that Jin will go to the military service, but no one has thought that Suga is only 3 months younger, that means that the two will leave.

ahh yes, i was wondering if you were gonna react to this and I'm glad you are! just curious, will there be an upload schedule for the next ep, like a certain day you upload it like Run or Bon Voyage, or will it just be at random? can't wait to see more reactions!

Andréia 🇧🇷

thanks for the reaction!! BTS is just amazing! True artist!!

The whole episode is about how the pressure has grown over the years..... how they're nervous about public perception....... Maybe the subs were a little confusing?? but yes, they definitly feel alot more pressure now to be perfect, because everyone are looking for flaws in them to use against them now

bea

honestly i don’t think celebrities have an amazing life. i mean it has a good and a bad side ofc. you get to experience amazing things, you have ppl who support you, you live your dreams.. but you also experience a lot of negativy, a lot of loneliness, pressure.. that’s why i like these docu-series. they reveal things here that they probably wouldn’t and although sometimes it’s hard to see certain scenes or hear certain things, it’s also needed for us fans to understand that the life they live it’s not all flowers & rainbows, to get to hear more of each individual member’s thoughts on their career and also to see a more raw side of what goes on behind the scenes. docu series show us that they are humans just like us, they work extremely hard, they are so professional but they also have their worries, insecurities, fears..

Ellie

Your duck analogy is neat! We never actually see what happens behind the scenes at concerts until things like this are released. In terms of pressures... I think ultimately that's something that nobody but them and those in similar situations can fully understand.

every job has its ups and downs, so yes they have a lot of fun while working but they also go through a lot. and the outfits aren't random at all haha, their outfits will make a lot of sense if you watched a full concert 😊💜

Anonymous

Fighting DT! I think that things don’t get easier, just different. Thanks for doing this, I was right, it did make it more fun 💜🔥🎉

Candice

After finishing this you can probably check out the bring the soul movie if you havent as yet

Aya

the fancy outfits they wear during the main part of the concert, and they change into jeans and t-shirts for the encore stage

To answer your question, imo the pressure (like the hardships) is as intense as before but it can't be the same: before they wanted to succeed and prove themselves to the world, now they try to balance all this fame with their personal life, they try to be happy, not matter what. Suga talked about that in Interlude Shadow, you can check the lyrics again or better yet watch the dkdktv explanation of it. Great reaction as always :)

Hana Park

I could give a long winded answer about there being more eyes on them now. Fans, media, anti's. More people scrutinizing not only their skills, professional choices, and achievements, but also their private lives and personal relationships with friends, family, etc. But instead I'll just say... Yes, I think there is more pressure on them now.

Tiffany Jiaxin Huang

Hi, DT. This is right after the Bon Voyage 3 filming. They were promoting their love yourself answer album with the title track IDOL. Their hair colors are still the same as they are in Bon Voyage 3.

Charmaine Flynn

the type of pressure is different now, as their goals have also changed. they seem to be in a really good place now though (mentally) especially when this was filmed (they were just coming out of a rough period here - which they eluded to in their MAMA speeches later that year)

Mai

Thanks for reacting to this. Looking forward to the next episode 💜

I don’t think it’s a matter of more or less pressure. I think it’s different types of pressure. When they were starting out I’m sure there was a pressure to do well and prove themselves and make their years of training, preparation, and dedication worth it. But now there are so many eyes on them and expectations have inevitably been raised. So they probably feel immense pressure to meet those standards and satisfy/go beyond those expectations.

미카 모니카

Yep. JK made me tear up. Thank you for this, DT. I enjoyed rewatching this with you.

Wayne Morrison

As far as your question on whether it is harder for BTS now or not. To me it depends on if you're talking now as of today, or at the time this concert was filmed. Because if it's today July 2020, then I think it is easier for them because they have exceeded all expectation of success and are more experienced in dealing with all that comes along with it. But back then in August of 2018, I think they felt the pressure because they were now becoming really BIG and they weren't sure if they could live up to it.

Jona Manalo

They wear jeans and tshirts for encore(ending) only..

onlyastarion

i mean rn they’re also in a big period of growth, the sudden increase of spotify followers, twt followers, subscribers. there’s a lot of quarantine armys

Beckyboo

I guess work wise they are doing the same thing performing - making albums - promo. But 2018 and onwards they became more and more famous worldwide. That comes with a pressure to perform in more countries, more travelling, more interviews, more obligations. And there is nobody's career path that they can emulate as no-one from Korea has reached this level of success. Of course they love what they do but there is major pressure that comes with it. Anyways, they explain it all better than me in these docuseries, you'll see Break The Silence is even deeper than Being The Soul.

daisymoon8

The stage outfits now are always quite extravagant and pretty. I'd say they are only casual for the encore in which they wear jeans and the tour t-shirt/sweatshirt.

daisymoon8

This is after the bon voyage 3 filming (they have the same hair colours) just to give you some perspective of the time.

I think they are more at ease now, because they have so much creative independence and resource to do and use for there art, Yes they experience pressure sometimes, but I think they've become more mature and at peace now, you can feel it in there latest FESTA, Yoongi is more himself, RM can rely on the members more because remember when Jimin said to rely more on them rather than feeling all the pressure, JK pointed it out also that RM is more at ease nowadays. In my personal opinion, I feel like they don't need to prove to everyone what they can do because they have proven themselves more than enough, there work speaks for itself. Nowadays I feel like the only opinion that matters to them First is the opinions of the ARMY, not so much of the haters or netizens. Of course I am pertaining to the 2020 BTS, but here in Bring the Soul, I guess they feel more pressure because they're gaining so much more fans and spotlight in the west. The need to prove themselves worthy of the awards is so big here. Again this is just my personal opinion and observations. Thank you!

The easier or not , the pressure,,,save it for the next docu-series "Break The Silence", the answer is there

I think the pressure is definitely bigger. There are a million more eyes on them than when they were starting out. In the beginning they had nothing to lose, whereas now it's almost like they HAVE to keeping going up because otherwise it would mean falling, you know? Like how a bird can't just stop flying mid-air. But they've also become increasingly better at handling the amount of pressure that no other group in the industry has ever had to deal with, and if you look at their interviews from last year it's apparent that they've sorta reached a place where they can be like, okay just hit us with whatever, we'll make the most out of it either way.

soo lee

I personally think that the pressure definitely grew a lot from 2017 to 2018 since they got so much attention (both nationally and internationally) in such short amount of time and the expectations people have for them grew immensely as well. That must be a lot of pressure. To keep the 'good numbers', maintain the audience, to expand, to be 'perfect role models' (which to me is pure bullshit), to keep outdoing themselves and like jk said: they wanna show something that people can see and acknowledge as befitting of their position. Which means that the pressure they have on to live up to the 'hype' they get is HUGE. Now wait untill you get into the next docu-series Break The Silence. It was shocking to me. They REALLY went deep on that pressure subject and how much that affects them.

Anonymous

The pressure definitely grew tremendously over the years. As JK also mentioned that now there are millions of eyes watching them, just 1 small little mistake is seen as a HUGE mistake to the world. And they have to be very careful with everything they do and say, and the way they behave. Even though they have proven themselves more than enough to the world, there is still pressure to keep up with the expectations of the millions watching them nationally and internationally (which I honestly don't believe they have to actually). But if they make even the smallest mistake now, it becomes such a big news in the media where the whole world gets to know about it. And to maintain the 'role model' image because the speech that RM made at the UN has even appeared in the textbooks for students to study about. The amount of pressure they have is beyond our imagination. And every time the pressure increases each year, the boys have also definitely become better and more experienced in handling it like no others have ever done or experienced before. When you watch this year's Festa 2020, you can actually see and notice that they are more at ease and at peace this year as compared to back in 2018 because they are more professional and experienced now in handling the huge fame that grew in the last 2 years. Yes once you get to the 'Break The Silence' docu series after this, you will get to see them discussing deeper into this topic.

Penguin Love

After the AMA's and into 2018 they had a really difficult time and this is when they considered disbanding. I think it was too much too fast and I don't say that as a criticism or like they could have slowed down because in the music business you take advantage of your popularity. Having their first major international tour for most of 2017 and having Billboard and AMA recognition was a lot. They talk about how hard it all was in the Festa 2018 dinner party and then at the end of the year awards in 2018 when Jin made reference to disbanding. Watching them come out of that and appearing to feel more at peace, confident and happy has been such a relief. I'm not sure how far you are in the Run episodes but numbers 53-56 they go away for a few days. In episode 56 they each write a poem and read it and they had me crying, especially Yoongi, Namjoon and Jimin's. It really gives you insight as to where their minds were at, and that was filmed in March, so early 2018 when they were struggling and coming out of it. I love these guys.

haniui

For people like them, who truly care about music and their craft, that pressure to release great hits and to always show a better performance will always be there. They've just learned to handle that pressure better these days. They're very strongwilled and I respect them so much for that. Also, the boys mentioned a lot throughout this episode about how the public's eyes are always on them and if anyone's kept up with what goes on on twitter since BTS' breakthrough in the west with the 2017 top social award, you'd know how true now that is more than ever. BTS are a powerhouse. They're doing things that have never been done before and because of that a lot of powerful people and companies from both the korean and western music industry, as dramatic as it may sound, want to see BTS' downfall. Gatekeeping, xenophobia, racism, misleading articles, rumors, what happened in nov. 2018, etc. The boys really do have to watch every move they make because media will take any oppurtunity to paint them in a bad light. That's why armys are very protective of the boys and you really can't blame them.

Nurul Atika Mohd Yazid

It has always been intense pressure for them. They really started from the bottom and they have risen to the top organically! Just because they are labelled idols/boyband, the general public still ignored them a bit the(2017/18) n but they are too big now for people to ignore them. So what they can do, is to bring BTS down. Time and time again, BTS have always worked their asses off to get to where they are now and they still remained humble and thankful. So what we always do as ARMYs is that we support their music and their endeavours no matter what because people can't stand a POC group getting all the success that the west feels that they are entitled to. We have always strive to work as hard as BTS supporting them because we know what they went through from 2013 till now. Haters have always trampled on their art and their kindness and their music because they cannot duplicate what BTS and ARMYs have done. I hope you support them too till the end DT! And hopefully you get to your first concert soon! They boys have been dehumanized many many times because of the stigma of idols and people (esp media) who dont know better (esp about their music!) gatekeep BTS because they dont wish to see a POC/asian group succeed. We have been incredibly honoured that we are living in the same era as BTS and they really make me wanna live my life fully even if i dont know what to do with my life at the moment. I see you becoming more smiley and happy when it comes to BTS and im thankful that you are taking them seriously as much as we have!

cant wait till you get to the newst bon voyage season. the Scene where RM was working on Mots7 during the hollidays and how much he put pressure on himself will forever be in armies memory. they will always put the pressure to give us the best they have, no matter they need to or not. thats why they are where they are.

alex vee

Not sure about the clothing but one thing I know is... when you see them come out in jeans and a tshirt the concert is almost over 🥺

Penny D Young

They've done the switching parts in Burn the Stage.

Penny D Young

JK said it at the very begining of the clip that if they make a mistake when they just debut. People give them a break, but now, even with the smallest mistake. It became a big mistake. People will not forgive them that easily.

Maya Del Rosario Suárez

Admirables estos chicos 💜... trabajo duro y talento...maravillosa combinación..Nunca defraudan,en vivo sencillamente una locura.. BTS 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💚

I think the pressure is different. IMO, the boys know that they've made it to the highest level that they can achieve in the industry, so the pressure now is to keep going, be there for ARMY, and not become complacent. Since they've literally grown into adulthood together, the guys are always changing. Kookie is only turning 23 this year and the rest of the members are still in their 20's. The older members I'm sure are having many thoughts about their upcoming enlistment into the military and how that's going to effect the group moving forward. Also, you hear RM mention wanting to be a dad in recent interviews and how other members have other interests that are tugging at them. For example, JK loves his film 🎥 making with his Golden Closet Films. Hobi is well-known and sought after in the industry as a top notch dancer, choreographer and dance leader. BTS has probably broken longevity records in the industry. After 7 years, they are bigger than they've ever been. With COVID, BigHit has had to be creative in figuring out how to save the company due to the cancelled MOTS7 tour. The boys are going through a new phase with all of this too. It's an ever-evolving level of pressure that they will never be free of. Thankfully, there is such an enormous team of people working with the members who help them to shine, plus ARMY 💜
