Hey everybody! Happy new year etc etc! Hope you're all doing well.
It has now been a month since I released the first demo for Baby Maker. Holy smokes! Feels like such a long time ago, and yet such a short time too. A lot of progress has been made on the game since then, and I'd like to say thank you so much for coming along for the adventure! I can't express how motivating it is to have you guys supporting the project.
Here are some of the things I worked on throughout December (some attachments at the bottom if you want to see pictures + a short demo of new functionality):
-Tons of bug fixes.
-Loads of sprite work, including refining some base sprites, more expressions & poses, improving and making more desperation/accident animations, animations for going down the slide & swinging in the baby swing (see attachments), sprites for being in the crib, several new NPC sprites, etc.
-Fleshed out the Adventure and (de-)leveling system. In the next version, you'll be able to "progress" by completing Adventures, which reward you with a loss in XP and Character Stats, and points to spend on Traits. Added and expanded upon several adventures, including for the main plot, as well as sillier side adventures like for the swing & slide
-Worked on the Traits system, adding some branches for stuff like the Bratty and ABDL routes (yeah, I start with the fun stuff!!). The ABDL route should have some fun to it! I have a personal preference towards embarrassed babs, but putting points into ABDL will allow Kiera to be more purposefully cute and interested in her diapers.. even allowing her to have some "accidents" on purpose! She can unlock a new tree of Adventures related to being a baby in front of others NPCs.... Uh ohhh!!
-Expanded upon the "sleepiness" mood. Kiera will now be prone to getting sleepy and needing a nap. If you look around the map, erm... Well, there aren't many options for where she'll spend nap time, are there? I wonder where she'll end up having to sleep?
-Developed more of the potty training and party systems. Kiera can go potty like a big girl now. She can ask most Amazons and the two In-betweeners (see attached files) to join her party for help going potty. Her potty habits also affect progression, with repercussions to her Maturity and Potty Training stats if she starts having accidents.
-Related to the potty system, I've been working on a lot of random events that can occur based on character Stats/Traits. For example, if Kiera's potty training sinks below 60, she'll have a random chance not to notice when she has to go. The odds that she doesn't notice and just keeps going about her business will increase as her potty training stat decreases- you'll still get the 5 "potty warnings," but she won't necessarily catch on as quickly as you do. Her chance to notice will increase with each potty warning of course, as her body gets closer to having an accident. Overall, she'll have to get VERY low potty training to have an accident without knowing it's coming at all, but it should be fairly common that she won't notice until she REALLY has to go- making accidents an increasingly frequent occurrence (especially if she's far away from the potty).
-Some quality of life improvements for gameplay. First and foremost is adding a functionality for pressing Q on your keyboard as an alternative to clicking on the "..." button. I am actually really excited about this change, you can check out the attached video to see how it'll work in game. Not only does it allow you to avoid using your mouse so much, but you can actually hold down Q to quickly skip through events! That should be handy for going through sections you've already played, or if you find the plot exceptionally boring. Skipping will stop when a decision comes up, which will still require you to click on the option you prefer with your mouse- I thought it would be best this way, since you often don't want to skip through an important decision!
-More QOL: Increased the range of some interaction distances, so that you don't have to be so close to the exclamation mark (!) to interact with NPCs/items.
There is a bunch of other little stuff that's been worked on, but as far as I can remember those are the major things! I am feeling very happy with Baby Maker's progress in December, and hope you are too! I've really appreciated all the feedback so far, it will help me make the game better and better. As always, don't be a stranger if you have any questions or comments, I am happy to go into greater detail about things. Talk to you again soon!
