I found it funny that you think people didn’t freak the hell out about Eminem back than. He was the focus of a witch hunt basically. Which he raps about a lot in later albums. In fact when this album was released if you liked Eminem and your friends found out they would make fun of you. He didn’t have any respect from anyone when this was dropped.

Dr. Dre was accused of hitting Fox TV personality Dee Barnes (the host of the Pump It Up rap show) at a Hollywood party, although he claimed he “just threw her through a door.” He was fined $2500 and placed on two years' probation. Dre also was ordered to perform 240 hours of community service and produce an antiviolence public service announcement for television. Eminem was actually nervous about including this line in the song because he had only known Dre for a few days when he recorded it. However, when Dr. Dre first heard it, he “fell out of his chair laughing”.
