From what I understand this is either *the* movie, or the premise for *the* movie, that Andy watched to want the toy and video game in the first place...the franchise within the franchise.

Fun fact: At one point, we see somebody load a crystal into the ship, which is likely a reference to a line from Toy Story where Buzz asks Woody, "do you still use fossil fuels or have you discovered crystallic fusion?" This pretty much confirms that this movie isn't about a "real astronaut" in Andy's universe, but is instead a fictional story upon which the Buzz Lightyear toy is based on in Andy's universe, like others have mentioned.

Did you get that from New Rockstars or The Super Carlin Brothers? (I love both of them!) What do we really know about crystallic fusion? If you already separate Andy's universe from our's, why jump to the assumption that it's a fictional story?
